Exclamation Bilsport / H&R Question.... Help!

Yesterday I installed the Bilstein sport shocks (A058 in Front, A057 in Rear) H&R springs (52724) F&R with # 2 Spring pads in the Front, # 1 Pads in the rear as the majority of people on these forums suggested.

Sadly, something is wrong, as when I went to pick up the car, the Front actually looks at least as high as stock, and the Rear was lowered more than I expected, or about 1.750".

As I understand it, the springs can not be put in "backwards" (F to R / R to F) so I don't think that caused it. I've also heard that the spring pads can't be put on "backwards" because the springs outside diameters are different (smaller in the Rear). Is it the shocks?????

The shocks seem to be the one factor in the on going saga of which shock goes where like many on this forum and the others, It has been written that the A057 should go in the Rear, and the A058 should go in the Front despite what the box and Bilstein says.

What are your experiences and what could have happened to screw this up???

HELP!!!!

Thank you all in advance,

FBS

I just installed an H&R cupkit today. My friend is a 15+ year Chevy tech and we did it at the dealership he works at. When we lowered the car off the lift after installing the cupkit the front end was sitting higher then stock. This was somewhat disappointing. After driving it for an hour or so the front has started to settle and is now visibly lower then stock. I haven't measured it but I would guess about 1.5 inches. Perhaps your springs just need to settle a bit.

Thats weird, the one on H&R website shows "52724" which is what I have on my car too. The 29724-2 is for a E320, but I think on some older posts others have used the 29724-2 and works fine.

You can check here: http://www.hrsprings.com/site/index.html.

H&R spring weights

The difference between the E320 and a E55 is probably about 2-3 hundred pounds for the extra cylinders and beefed up components. I'm confident I purchased the right parts.

Could they be installed in a way that they don't "seat" until you drive it for a while?

That wouldn't explain the rear being so low?????

Hummmm?

Hi,

I am wondering if your problem fixed yet?
I checked Bilstein's website, http://www.bilstein.com/304passengercars.pdf
It says A057 is for front, and A058 is for rear.

Any idea?

I'm hav

I'm having the same issue.

Took out stock e55 springs and replaced with the 52724. Kept the spring pads the same (3f, 2r)

After putting the car down the front was an inch higher than stock and the rear was at stock height. I put 100 miles on it and now the back is 1/2" lower than stock and the front is still 3/8-1/2 high.

I don't know how many miles it needs to "settle" but I don't want to drive too thousands of miles before my alignment, or have the height change after and need another alignment.

If this is a common problem I can just calculate and cut the h&r, I just didn't think I'd have to do that

That sounds about right. It's typical to run #1 pads in the front and #3 pads in the rear to get a slight drop with H&R springs. I recommend that combo. If it's not low enough for you then your options are to cut the front springs or get different springs.
