While I, and all others, feel your pain at the pump, which by the way here in Silicon Valley, 91 is $4.10/gallon, don't forget there must be some value placed on driving and E55 over a Mini Cooper. If you wanted to take your example further, you could calculate the savings for riding the bus!
When you bought your E55, I would think if nothing else told you it wasn't the most economical car to drive, it would have been tire cost alone. If you want to truly get freaked out on what each mile costs to drive the beast just figure in tires and brakes. It's substantial, assuming your using Pilot Sports and not cheap brakes. As I said though, I do feel your pain at the pump. A few days ago I had my first $80+ fill-up!! But still I love the car and love to drive it. I bought it new 99 (2000) and still enjoy it a lot. The only car I have thought about trading it in for is a W211!! Maybe there's a MiniCooperWorld forum you can join ![]() ![]()

you don't even drive that much, you have nothing to worry about, now if you said 20k miles a year I could understand.
If you want to save money take the public transportation once in a while, or carpool |

I am sure you have heard this before but try owning one of these cars in the UK!!
At $10 US a gallon I am sure you would moan then!! I was shocked at how cheap fuel was in the States when I worked there last year! You guys have it lucky. Your government isnt trying to screw you for every penny you have. I wont go into other taxes! ![]()

Yep, here in the UK it's ridiculous. I saw £1.28 per litre today. That's some $11.49 per gallon at todays exchange rate.
![]() The Government are also setting road-tax for cars that have high CO2 ratings at £950 per year ($1873). AMG ownership has never been so expensive.... ...unless you live in Switzerland apparently. DC

CDN$1.35/L in Toronto, went from spending $20 a day to $25, good thing the 55 gets good mileage for its engine size, I had a Lexus GS4 previously with a 4.0 V8 and the gas mileage is about the same so im not complaining.

Hold on a second. Why are you considering mini when judging from your calculations, it would take 11 years to recoup the cost of switching? To me, $700 a year in gas savings doesn't seem like a big deal when you consider how much enjoyment you get out of driving an AMG vs driving something like a mini. You only live once, you have to enjoy what you drive

oh, sorry for not making myself clear. the point of my thread was that after the calculations, it was clear that switching is definitely not worth the effort & extra $. AMG is here to stay ![]() |

Well since after today I will have both, I will have fun in the Mini when the bucks get tight and the E55 one full week after payday. It don't get any better than this!

US $2,26/Liter here in Sweden today. Expensive
Yes, but worth every coin when you drive the E55 and hear the V8 sound as you floor it |
