Air filters, AFE prodryS

When i originally bought my e55 the first thing I did was change the filter the k&n and then need a new MAF after about 1000 miles, I don't know if it was the k&n's or not but either way I went back to stock filters.

While looking air intakes for the M i came across the AFE prodryS filters. It uses no oil and only needs to be vaccumed to be cleaned. So it sounds pretty good, I'm going to order a pair for the M but I thought maybe some of you here might be interested.

Interesting. I had k&n's on my clk but was careful not to over oil them and never had a problem. That said, I was still going to stay away from them on this car. I was thinking of going with Green filters but this adds something else to think about. I wonder if the price is for both filters.

I didn't know about the oil problem till after I had installed the filters... i did the filtesr the second day i had the car too which probably wasn't too smart. I also was going to buy green filters but i always forgot to and it was so easy to just call the mercedes dealer in the area and have the oem filters brought to me the same day at the shop i work at. i think i'm going to try these AFE filters. Although it will be for an M i'll report back, if i do this, on how it went.

Did a quick search....doesn't look like they make Green filters for our car. Is that right?
Anyway, I'll look for your report and what you think of the AFE's. If you like them, then maybe I'll go with them unless there are somehow even better options.

I don't know if there are green filters for the E55 but I'm sure i've heard of people using them in them.

I hope to order them by the end of the week, I'll let you know once there in.

K&Ns are fine, of all the options they have been the safest (green filters have fallen apart in many cases and are not as well built). If you are paranoid just clean your MAS once a year with 91% isopropyl alcohol and you will be fine.

I agree... I have had my BMC's on for almost 9k miles and no problems whatsoever.
