Match your driving lights to your HID

There are a lot of threads about this, but few cut to the chase.

The driving light is a BAX9S H6W. You want a 17 LED version such as this one on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2pcs-...ht_2316wt_1167

This will give bright light, no light out error in the dash cluster, and the color is a pretty close match to the HID. It costs a little more, but it doesn't require resistor adapters, doesn't give a light out error like some other LEDs, and fits without modification.

That's disappointing. I just got a set and it seems to work, but time will tell.

There was a bulb I saw a while back which people were raving about .. it was a phillips.. silver vision , or silver something ..NOT an LED.. but very close in color to HID.. I will look through my records.. I need pair too.

I believe the Philips version requires sanding down a pin, since it's not the correct plug type. If the 17 LED version isn't reliable, though, I might start looking at it.

I remembered finally .. it is the Phiilips Blue Vision H6W .. it is only 3400K but
it is the closest in color without experimenting with LEDs, for some reason it was only available in Europe but can be ordered easily. To my knowledge it doesnt need any sanding or filing to fit. It was on my list of to do's ...never got around to it , will be ordering a set today.

I had asked about the blue vision bulbs years ago on the CLK forums and all of the feedback I got was it wasn't much different from the stock bulb and definitely nowhere near HID. I never had pictures though because all of the people who tried them just ended up taking them out and going with something else.

The high beam and city light are both in the inner, small headlight.

I'll take a picture and report back.

You can see they are a close match. The LEDs are slightly bluer than the HID.

Note the corner marker is actually clear, that is not a yellow marker or bulb. It just appears yellow in comparison to the HID and LED.

I have to say this looks damn good... I bet it is better color than the Phillips Blue vision , didnt I hear many people advising AGAINST the use of LEDs?
I put in LED rear lights, and for the life of me I cant get rid of the Faulty lamp
in my cluster.. they do look great and much better than my OEM though.

Yeah, you can see the slight ring of blue around it but it looks good. I think the test again will be how long do they last? That's still great to see a led that doesn't throw the codes or need resistors though.

Ok guys,

Going to the Garage now...Will post pics and links of my lights....

License Plate

Inner Driving Lights Oo<----

Corner Light

Fog Lamps - They look great by the way

All done 6 months ago not a single hiccup with the exception of the inner lights had to file down the pin which was easy to do.

Leerod saw my Foglamp lights and they are BRIGHT, Night and Day. He can vouch for them.

I did my best with the Pics... see below and let me know if you have any questions. The Inner lights have a silver/blueish tint to them. Tuff to see in the pics..... Basically got rid of all the yellow lights to LED.

Hopefully I didn't jinx myself 6 Months going strong

Armani,

Ok....two dumb questions what I'm sure someone will want to smack me in the head for.
First the not quite as dumb. For the city lights, do you need to purchase two of them at $30 or whatever they cost or do they come in packs of two.
Second, and the more dumb question. I just assumed that our fogs would be H3's like the circular CLK lights are. Are ours really H1's?
I think I maybe be willing to give these a go.

There's no such thing as a dumb question well in my book anyway

H3 - are the correct one's I just checked the case. (Put my old one's in there for safe keeping)

Make sure to file down the city lights, yes they come in packs of two. I used my girlfriends nail filer and put back before she knew it was MIA.

Overall I'm VERY happy the way they came out

GL and let me know if you have any follow up questions.

P>S
Jack up the car a tad so that you can have easier access to the fog lamps and don't forget to use Latex Gloves.

Arrow Sorry one more link...

This is the one that I ended up buying for the inner city lights. Found it in my G-Mail the other one was my 2nd option. Another member in the W210 have had these for a very long time.
