Blinking Gas Light and Check Engine Light

I noticed that the gas low light was blinking on my E320 2001 after my wife had filled up gas! I drove it for 2 days w/o knowing why and noticed that the Check Engine Light also had come on after day 1. Then I found on MBWorld that the possible cause was a loose gas lid. I noticed that the lid was indeed not fully secured and I turned it until it clicked.

But the "check engine light" still persists.

Why?

Thanks in advance!

The code will need to be cleared.

It needs to go through a couple cycles before it clears. Keep driving it around and it will clear.

Thanks!

Yes, the error code disappeared after 3 days of driving.
