HELP! Need to make a decision on rotors!

Hey all,

I have a 99 E55 with roughly 60k miles on it. I bought some akebono brake pads for the front and the back. Last time I took it into the dealership they told me I need front and rear pads and front rotors.

I havn't had the sensor give me any signs for the rotors/brakes. I dont know whether I should buy new rotors or not? I don't get any vibration when braking. Has anyone else changed their brake pads and not their rotors? Anyone running on original rotors up to 80-100k? I don't know if I should drop ~$470 on rotors, especially if I don't really need to.

Also, my mechanic told me that you can't resurface mercedes rotors because they're too soft. Is that true?

The dealership also told my my rear differential/seal is leaking. I need to get it re-sealed. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you end up paying to have it re-sealed?

I'd really appreciate any help guys!!

Joe

Yes, you will need to replace the rotors. Don't think otherwise.

$470 is a small price to pay for getting another 60k miles out of the brakes.

Any attempt to reuse the originals will result in a headache.

Centric Rotors???

Anyone have any experience with Centric on E55?

I have used them on my 300CE and they are great.
