It took maybe 40 minutes for my friend to do mine at his shop.

Seems a little high? I guess it depends on how much your shop charges per hour.

If I remember correctly, by book, its 2-3 hours for both mounts so yes its within reason.

I believe you're correct. I remember asking how much they charge (normal shop rate) and it just clicked that he said it was 3 hours or something. Glad I don't have to pay that.

The book rate is 2 to 3, yes, so their estimate is valid in that sense. The book is basically wrong. Actual time, as noted, is generally under an hour, even for an indie who has never done it before. You should be able to do it in your driveway in under 3. With a shop and proper lifts and tools, that shaves a lot of time.

My mechanic quoted my something like $200, and then after he did it and saw how easy, cut that in half (or more). I would ask them to cut you a discount based on actual time (i.e. price it after they do it), and they will probably agree to it if you mention that you know it's not really a 3 hour job, despite the book estimate.

It is a job that takes under an hour if you've never done 210 motor mounts. If you have, it's a 30 min job for both sides.
