hmn ... i like the heat in my exhaust system and not in my engine bay.

I have kleemann headers and beside the fact that they very bend over after the first real heatwave i have no problem. have them installed for 25.000km so far.

I thought so too about the heat kept in the exhaust instead of the engine bay itself. That's why I was thinking of wrapping the headers especially in the winter time, to keep the burning much more efficient. I might do that this spring since I already bought the wraps. Thanks for the info and quick reply

And again ... a "small" update

New Rims incoming

After i received the Rims i checked if they are technicaly ok.

polishing

i did this on our tire mashine, quiete a lot of work but in that case ok for me

I ordered the original "Titan Grey" Color. i tought it would be a bit darker but at least ... a really nice color for rims. probably the original "titan grey" rims from SL65 where painted in himalaya gray what i a little bit darker then titan grey.

Clearcoat.

nice color

Have to sit there until the paint is really dry. after that i can fit the tires.

and also i ordered a new key for my baby

greetings, Fabian

Looks really good Fabian, nice touch on the wheels!

Why change the brakes? are the SL65 superior in any way?

Thanks

they are 8-pot 390x36mm instead of 6-pot 360x32mm :-)

As you can get really fast in germany, germany is the only country in the world without a general speed limit as far as i know, you really need good brakes

Wow! Massive brakes!! Well needed in Germany.

The wheels are great, they fit really nicely on your car.

Kaype, do the Merc multipiece wheels have the barrel threaded for the face to bolt onto or are there nuts behind every bolt? I'm asking because I recently picked up a set of Brabus Monoblock IV wheels (from an ML) and they have bolts but I see no nuts inside the barrel.

On another note, your wagon is impressive to say the least. Everything has been turned up to 11 on it!!!

These are 2-piece Wheels, so no screw nuts behind the bowl, the thread is inside the bowl. i have also 3-picese BBS Wheels on my W123 and these have nuts behind every screw...

Thanks

greetings, Fabian

Very impressed by your mechanical ability. How can I learn to work on my car? Are you a mechanic by trade or learned on your own?

Thanks

i just had a little time to get some photos for an update ready.

Here you go ...

in the middle of the year i scraped down a CL600 with M137 and used the Engine for a nice table in my garage:

After that i decided to get rid of the 2 CWA50 Pumps and use CWA100 instead. They are much more powerful.

a first test was around 22L/min. ... with 3 Radiators. Original Cooling has 1 Radiator and around 11L/min.

Next step was to get rid of some brakingparts i stored for my recent brakeconversion to 390mm brakes... i had quiete a few AMG Brakeparts

Then came what must come ... my kleemann headers had some "problems".

i welded them and Claus from Kleemann replaced the right one. But i must say ... i wasnt happy with kleemann headers so i started to search for another set.

to be continued...
