M3RC3D3SE55AMG: Just curious if you have plans for the transmission?
Other members that have added the super charger have discovered weaknesses in the rest of the drive train.
Great job in sharing with us.

Thanks for your message Cudaized. The only drivetrain change will be the fitting of a Kleemann LSD and upgraded bearings to assist in getting the cars power down. Speaking with Kleemann and House of Cars about further modifications, including suspension and brakes etc, had them both inform me that the gearbox will be more than capable of handling this power hike. There are other marques using this very same gearbox with horsepower figures in excess of 700hp with no issues at all. Even the SLR McLaren runs the W210 gearbox, albeit modified but the platform is the same. These things considered, I'm not too worried about it failing. What I have looked into for the future is stock clutch pack modifications and switching to blue top transmission solenoids, but before that I will actually drive the car for a while and see how it performs. Which cars and what power figures were they running when experiencing the problems you speak of? I'm keen to know, it's always good to have a second and third opinion.

Looks good.

Looking at the front with the hood up makes me wonder if anyone has tried fitting those air scoops the w211 and M5 guys use on a w210. Seems like they would help push more air into the intake.

No doubt it's been done, but I don't need to push if I've got supercharger to pull, right?

A guy from Sweden named Magnus with his user name of ABALONE.
He supercharged his W210 E55. Used to post a lot back in 2010-2012?

Ah yes! Very familiar with his work. If my memory serves me right he pushed his engine/transmission to its limits with his modifications. I'm not being as drastic as him. Looking at running a steady 500-510 myself, and again the transmission is more than capable of handling that.

Brushing up on his work I see he was running a built engine. He changed the pistons (and sleeved his block no doubt), ran a smaller pulley for a touch more boost, and on top of that he pushed his rev limiter up and tuned his transmission control unit too.

Out of his list of modifications, the only things I could also do are the pistons and pulley as his car is running the newer ECU/TCU to mine. I have the 2.0 and his is the 2.8, so he can play around with mapping as much as he likes. For my car its a little more complicated.

I am considering rebuilding my block after running the Kleemann kit for a while, I'll see how things go. If I was to do further modifications, I would sleeve my block, lower the compression with forged pistons, run a smaller pulley for more boost, and upgrade the cooling system further as the "next stage".

In all honesty though, right now, I just want to take some time to enjoy what I already have.

They are higher capacity Zayed. I'll double check the CC of them and whether they are the same ones fitted to the SLR.

We're forcing more air so obviously need to send more fuel as you know. There are two ways to set up for this:

1. Larger injectors with stock pumps and a remap (newer system)

or

2. Stock injectors but twinned with higher powered fuel pumps, a regulator, and resistors for the MAF (older system).

We're still playing with which is the best option and I'll update on this ASAP.

Agree with you, those the only solution, also you can go with Bosch 044 pump, its brilliant for more fuel set-up progress..

Is there a considerable difference between the 044 and the stock E55 Bosch pump Zayed? What is the pumping capacity etc of each unit respectively?

*Stock = 95>>115l/h, in 3.8>>4bar

*044 = 220>>240l/h, in 5.5>>6bar

That explains a lot then Zayed. The Kleemann kit I went with runs boost pressures best suited to the stock fuel pump pressures, and it was a stock pump they sent with the kit to run inline with the original.

Looking Good!

It just keeps getting better! Great documentation.

By the way, I from what I can gather, Abalone's (Magnus) E55 no longer exists. Apparently he sold it back in August and the new owner wrapped it around a post. It's been parted out, at this point:

As much as we all loved the Magnus build, I think it's safe to say there's a new Sheriff in town now

That would explain why his YouTube and forum activity dropped off Benzokirk! I didn't even know!

I'll make sure I continue to the showcase work and the driving experience for you all. Just waiting for the festive holidays to pass so work can get finish of setup and tuning etc.

Really appreciate the support!

Very quiet around here. Have a feeling someone is pretty busy peeling rubber! So you're saying you'll get to 500 without a build? I've got my 5.4 sitting around waiting for a tear down. I'd like to be at 500!

Thanks for your message Mickey!

It's spurred me to write this post now.

We were experiencing fuelling issues just before Christmas/New Years, and they were rectified to an extent, but after the festive period the car was started and we found it had developed a misfire. We're putting it down to a leaking injector at present. We're stripping the fuelling system to check, clean, and rebuild it.

I'll update the thread with more photos and videos once we've gotten round to the "fun stuff". Dyno and ¼ mile runs etc.

In other news I treated the Mrs to a surprise Birthday/Christmas gift in the form of an immaculate W208 CLK 320:

After weeks and weeks of testing the Kleemann kit with the fuel regulator/resistor/secondary fuel pump setup, we finally gave up on that option because we simply couldn't get the car running right that way. Instead we've gone the custom ECU/mapping route.

All the relevant parts have been removed related to the option 1 setup, and replaced with the larger fuel injectors, fuel rail, and custom ECU tune from Kleemann.

I'm making it all sound quite simple, but for anyone who knows about the W210 AMG version which comes WITHOUT an OBD2 port, remapping is a difficult task in itself.

Instead of trying to re-flash the stock chip (which if can go horribly wrong, rendering the ECU useless), we bought a blank chip and loaded the custom Kleemann tune onto it, making sure the stock chip/tune stays intact for future use or reference.

The stock chip was then un-soldered/removed from the ECU's main board, and the tuned chip put in its place (which is the process seen in the photos).

The car fired up first turn of the key after the tuned ECU was refitted.

Now we just need to double check air/fuel ratios and make sure everything is as it should be before heading to a Dyno for final performance tests.

If the air/fuel numbers don't quite hit the mark, Kleemann are on call to write another tune for the car, but so far we're looking good.

More updates, photos, and videos to follow.
