So I finally got the exhaust done on Wednesday, and I can categorically say its the best $290 I have spent in quite awhile! Bought a 5 foot section of straight pipe and 2 45 degree bends, both in 409 Stainless from Mandrel Bend Solutions. $110 delivered. $30 no name stainless X-pipe from EBay, and $150 for the actually install. I think the exhaust shop was kinda pricy but it came reccomended, and was one of the only ones that were willing to "semi legally" remove the cats. I'm no welder, but it looks pretty good to me, and is warrantied for life. As for the sound I can't get the smile off my face! The car under load is just so fun to listen to, but cruising I notice no difference at all. At WOT the thing sounds 100% different, as many have said like how the car should have sounded from the factory. Anyhow anyone considering this I HIGHLY recommend it. After all what else have you done to your 55 that costs less that $300? Cheers guys.
Also sorry for the crappy pics.

I'm convinced now, to remove my secondary cats when I get back home from vacation. One of them is rattling now, anyway, but reading this just pushed me over the edge. I think it'll give me the little extra bit of noise I'm looking for

The bolt on short headers are by far the best mod for torque. You make about 15-20 hp at the crank on top end, but in the mid range it's a monster. It's the #1 mod you can do, x-pipe/ high flow 2nd cats combo is the 2nd best, pulley is 3rd best. As far as hardware mods go.
For software Eurocharged is the best way to go

Sounds amazing too. And my gas mileage went from 18-20mpg during my same commute.

Who has pictures of the inside of the resonator? I am guessing that the two internal pipes are the same diameter as the IN and OUT pipes from to/from the resonator body?
Is the resonator an open plenum or two pipes all the way though, with sound suppressing material? I am pretty sure that our stock exhaust are completely separated from exhaust manifolds all the way to the rear muffler.
Just curious what the insides of the resonator looks like. Anyone?

I should have cut mine open. So your pictures showed both pipes cut out on each end. Is the picture show before or after he cut the pipes out inside the turtle shell. I just clean out the garage and threw the darn thing out

Dont modify this resonator people, just deleat and replace it with 45º mandrel bend pipes (if you can install an x pipe in the second cats place). If not, replace the resonator with the x pipe in this place best mod in our exhaust system.
You can modify the resonator if you need a visual inspection and you want a OEM look (put stright pipes inside the resonator and you got the same mod, with OEM look)

I no longer recommend installing Aftermarket air filters and wires. The filters allowed dirt to contaminate the MAF and oil became noticeably dirty. As for magnecor wires they were fine the first 5-6 months then all of a sudden the car started to run like crap and misfire. Installing Bosch wires/Mann filters cured my problems.
Please use Headphones or High quality speakers.
I went out for a drive, yesterday was cold, real feel was -20c.
Car has new Spark plugs and MAGNECOR wires.
It sounds louder than the Video and it's SWEEEEEEEEEEET This is with Dynamat trunk kit installed !
I truly like the bassy note of the M113 engines, reminds me of the SLR and The G55.
Cheers

Yea, sounds fantastic listening through my headphones! I like the sound of the tire spin during the second run.
What is the blue light that came on near the temperature gauge?
This makes me want to take mine out and thrash it some tomorrow!
