New member/owner & question about recalls

Hi everyone, Previously I have owned two r129 SL's but recently I purchased a white 2000 E55 AMG,

I have come across some info suggesting that there where issues with the harmonic balancer and the door seals on the W210. Apparently recalls or "service campaigns" were issued. I have tried to find out if any of these affect the 55 AMG but have not been able to arrive at a conclusion. I wonder if someone here can shed some light on the matter ?

In case of the door seal, the fix seem to have involved removing the trim and applying some wax or sealant and then re-installing the seal, is this correct ?

thanks everyone

harmonic balancer was a recall in north america, what happened in sweden stayed in sweden, meaning arbitrary customer service.

if you see any visual rubber cracks on HB change it asap
HB will start wobbling, vulkanized rubber will fall off the round piece, then belt will start chewing on front timing case, the underbody of oilfiller housing.
your cluster might give you a warning illumination from battery light as the belt slipped, steering will go harder.

buy a new HB as the new ones are an upgraded version
to inspect the old one take a flashlight .

regarding doors they were either replaced or stripped and repainted, then waxoiled then rubber seals were re-fitted.
the w210 is a notorius rustbucket, it will rust again after rust been fixed on doors

Tack , When I inspected my part I noticed it had pn 113 835 01 00 0400, and according to the info that I could find, this was not a part affected by the recall. It looked fine too me but was not so easy to tell. Should I remove the belt and take the part off in order to be able to inspect it thoroughly ?

with a ficklampa you can see rubber cracks uppifrån when you lift the hood.
next time you put your car på liften check underifrån after you have removed skyddskåpan till oljetråget.
this harmonic balancer was re-designed several times due to poor quality.
if this part was never changed on your car, you have to keep an eye on it from time to time.
it will begin vobbla ojämnt with vibrations on your engine.
my rubber cracked on my c43 and I noticed it in time to replace it.
it might cause severe damage on the front of your engine om du har really bad otur?

Okey, tack så mycket, If I find I need to replace it, I had a look in the Mercedes EPC and found most recent part number seems to be 1130350100, but a quick search on ebay.de only revealed few results showing used parts. Modifying my search I managed to find results saying they would fit cars with basically the same engine, for example R129 55 AMG or the C43, the W210 E55 was not listed. Can I safely assume that is it the same part ?

Thanks

C43 is 4.2l, with M112 part#, and HB pulley should be differ than 5.4l, during differ displacement..!,,

all 5.4l sharing the same HB pulley, which is: "113 030 00 03"..

Thanks,

I can't find anything searching for the part number starting with "113"

I can however find sellers who claim that their part will fit my vehicle, but their reference for original part numbers are all starting with 112.

1120350000 - 1120350400 - 1120350500 - 1120350600 - 1120350800 - 1120350900 - 1120351300 - 1120351400

They claim the part will fit a 6 cylinder C-Class as well as my M113 AMG.

HB on 5.4L is a special part made only for 5.4L engine, do not buy a HB sold for C43 which says even fits 5.4L.
Nein, nein, nein they are not the same!

paarts number for:
HB 113 030 00 03 = approx €261 euro + 19% tax at MB dealership in Germany
bolt 006 990 70 04

Okay, good to have this clarified, it seems then that the part I may require is much more difficult to find. I can only find sellers who claims their M112 designated part fits on the M113.

don't buy from eBay when you buy the HB.
get it from an authorized MB dealer as this is not a generic part.
if i remember correkt, this was almost a 4000 Skr part at Hedin Bil, call your stealership B4 you buy one, these are much cheaper in germany
sellers on eBay who claim HB fits c43 and e55 don't know what they are selling to you.

HB is designed specially for E55 engine.

ZAYED,,
Dennis is always right

seriously, Zayed is correct.
the wrong damper might cause engine problems as vibration pulley dampening and pulley weight might not be the same between c43 vs e55 pulleys.
c43 has less hp/nm VS e55 has a looooooooooooooooot more power.
wrong HB will give you headache, not worth buying from ebay, get it from MB dealership
