I was just doing front rotors and pads on my 99 E55 , and i noticed the spring perch looks very weak !! Call My Indy and he say o yeah thats common problem, Did a search and saw lot of posts here as well, Dam it my car has no rust to be found , Im about to pull the wheels of my 02 and have a look. Glad I caught it ealry , could have been a lot worse.

I just fixed mine about 3 months ago or so. Its not really difficult if you can weld or know someone who can. All in all it cost me less than 80 dollars, and took 4 hours from start to finish.

Thx for the input Z , I'm going to my Indy tomorrow. I wish I could do this at home Midwest , I've never welded but am willing to try, I just don't have the time right now.

just got back from my indy , he's done so many he's got the perch replacement in stock. My car has no signs of rust, but the age combined with the moisture build up equal failure.

How do they look on your 2002?

I've checked mine closely and fortunately they are solid.

The 02 looks good, I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure. The shop also said the majority of the failures they've seen have been the right/passenger side. Not sure why.

More exposure to snow, de-icer from the gutters and drains on the right side of US roads. Usually your right side spends more time splashing through water - IMHO

Picked up the car this morning , I had both sides done, drove 40 miles to work, car feels better then ever.
