Has anyone used this in their AMG? I know Mobile 1 is MB's favorite flavor. PI sheet states it meets MB -229.5 & 229.3. I have always used Valvoline in all my other vehicles.
Thoughts and comments please.

Heresy!!!
All jokes aside, I've never tried it, but I'd like to see a shootout. Maybe a MythBusters show, at least, huh? If the specs match, I'd like to see other comparisons, i.e. viscosity, durability, how long can you go without a change?
Good question, and nice find, I didn't know anyone else manufactured 0W-40, but then, I never looked for anything else... did you do a cost comparison (??)

If it meets MB specs I would go on price and availability and not give it a thought, unless you are worried about Hans Aufrecht slapping you in the face when he finds out.

I don't know man, nowadays the gallon Mobil 1 0W-40 is so readily available at Walmart, why even bother to try something different and hard to find. My two cents (Unless its cheaper and you can get them down the road where you live) and Walmart is like an hour away....

My late grandfather retired from Ashland/Valvoline. I have always been partial to it. That's why I was asking. He would do what ever it takes to take care of a vehicle so I am sure he would be fine with Mobile1.

Really not sure about Valvoline.
Royal Purple makes 0W-40. I recall reading comparison tests several years ago - if memory serves, RP led the pack. I believe it's used today by some NASCAR rides. I switched to RP in both my E55 and SL65; however, had difficulty trying to get 0W-40 locally so went back to my indy's stocked M1.
I'd use it again in a heartbeat...
