KLEEMANN Electronic Gear Shift (EGS)

Anyone hear of this yet or have it? Curious what, if any, the drop in an ET may be.....

KLEEMANN Electronic Gear Shift (EGS)

Quicker gearshifts - Formula 1 style

In addition to its many variations of engine tuning, KLEEMANN also improves the software of the electronic control unit for the five-speed ZF automatic gearbox. To maximize the potential of its tuned cars, KLEEMANN has developed an Electronic Gear Shift (EGS) module that provides faster gearshifts as well as the ability to shift through the gears via two buttons on the KLEEMANN sport steering wheel in optimum Formula 1-style.

The KLEEMANN Electronic Gear Shift (EGS) is available for 5.0 litre V8 E-Class (W211), CLK (W209) and SL (R230).

the steering wheel comes stock in my car with the +/- bottons. but the software upgrade for the transmission sounds very interesting. will check with Kleemann since my car is there and get back.

Has anyone spoke to Cory about this? I would be very interested in this modification. I would suspect that acceleration times would improve.

Is this mod. a re-flash of the existing software or is there new hardware involved?

I talked to Kleemann a while ago before I decided to purchase the beast. This is basically retrofitting the AMG Speed Shift into a vehicle that does not have it, like E500.

I think the only company that does transmission upgrades is MKB. They have upgraded EGS module software as well as a reinforced transmission.

k04c320 is right,it can only be retrofitted in a car tha does not comes with the paddle shift.
I also found out that the change cannot be made in the ecu,it has to be made in the tranny.

Baller,
I will shoot Cory a e-mail to inquire about the TB. I was planning on this addition in the Spring.

The Throttle Body is out, several stage 4's have been done. I was quoted 5k for cams and 3500 for the TB to complete the K4. Exhaust pipes and mufflers are not part of the K4 any longer but are still available.

wow, diminishing marginal returns...as expected. Like $8k for 110 hp for K2 then another $8.5K for maybe 50hp?

What is the TB expected to yield at the wheels? Does it require an update to the Kleemann ECU?

Thanks

I did get correspondence from Cory regarding the TB. I asked him what my next modification should be after K2.

Cory writes:
I would proceed with the throttle body. The installation is not difficult, however, the supercharger needs to be removed from the car to install the TB kit. It's not entirely difficult to remove the supercharger, but it is fairly time consuming. If your MB dealer is willing, I would have them do it, rather than some other shop that doesn't have too much experience with these cars. The ECU does not need to be re-programmed for the TB upgrade- there's not much we can do in the ECU to "optimize" the TB. If you have a shop that you've worked with in the past and whom you trust, I would say they can do it. I'm in the process of making an installation manual for the TB upgrade, and I hope to be done with it by weeks end. The throttle body's are priced at $3000.00. Installation time is about 4-5 hours.

After the throttle body, the only thing left to do are the cams. As we discussed in the past, the Cams are great for mid and high RPM improvements, but won't yield any gains in the low RPM range, not to mention they are quite pricey for only 15HP ($4100.00). The Cams are probably the last thing I would recommend doing.
