Next problem - no communication with car- was tougher (dreaded Cal 872 error). Could have bought solution from John at JCRecording for $40 but plugged away at Digital Kaos until I found the solution between the lines of some posts--change 1 lousy line in the Das/bin/cal.ini file. Only then did I have a working system. Then I ran the Ceasar test and had 1 anomaly--3100 can error. Heard around that this is a hardware error most often. Took apart multiplexer and put her under the scope. Surface mount chips were hand soldered--but not too bad. Found a few instances of smd resistors with one end tilted and some very cold looking solder joint in some of the edge connector pins. Now it's 100 % and I have to say..what a great tool!!! but expect some difficulties unless your luck is better than mine. Oh, and support from vendor??? Ha, Ha, within hours of the end of the e-bay auction, all traces of the transaction had vanished. And e-mails to him? He and his engineers are "studying the problem and will have a solution soon" Ha ha.
I sent the laptop DAS back to Ecartool for upgrades and the latest DAS Version 11/2009. SentVia USPS Express Mail and it was there in 5 days. Got an email from the 'boys' that the touch pad was not in good shape so they sent the PC to ASUS (across the street for all I know) for a n/c fix. Had the system back about 6 days later. Everything that requires online access functions flawlessly. Also the 'date' issue is a thing of the past and the version of XP now has SP3. This was a no-no on earlier versions - - - really good stuff!

I wish people would post more "How To's" in DAS. Such as:
Clearing all adaptations. I found it, but I was afraid I would kill something.
Mods for chimes / Volume
Tweaks to Audio (If Any)
Folding Mirror on Lock (If car already has folding)
Clear and test if engine light on
General report on module health
Speedometer / Odometer replacenet (E63 Mod) to maintain correct milage
what else?? Im sure there is more!!

Mine came from an overseas supplier, and works fine out of the box!

MB Tech lowered my friends e55 and He refer him to lower my SL55 via SDS. He lowered my car but it only got lowered in Front only and rear are uneven. He try to lower it again and told me my sensor is bad so he replace the sensor but it did not do the trick. Now he told me he could not lower my car. Now my car is sitting low in front and very high in the rear and uneven. I know he lowered few E55 but somehow he could not do mine. Lowering SL55 different than E55 ? Does anyone know or have an instruction or tip how to lower SL55 via SDS.

if you put good LED bulbs they will not throw codes, I have them in the front city lights and works well.

I'm working on a SL55 STAR lowering, I got it lower right now, but I'm not sure if I did it right. It is kind of different than the E55. When I get something solid I will post it.

On my first attempt I got an ABC malfunction on the dash, I've got that to go away, but we will see in the coming days what happens.

Also For SL folks, I was able to shut off the bothersome (to me) volume increase /decrease for when the top is down or up. I just cant stand it when the volume changes when I roll the windows up or something. That is gone gone gone now.

If anyone is interested in that I can post that up at some point.

Question about the lowering?

How far are people lowering the car with this? When lowering the car will it affect my camber to the point it will eat away the tires? When I press the button that raises the car will it lift it to the height it would now, or because of the calibration will it raise it in relation to how far I lower it?

Just looking around these seem like some of the best prices, Please note I have no expirence with this company. I also have seen some versions with the developer software. How many more adjustments are available with the developer software? Is it worth the extra cost?

Do these inclination values & voltages work on all Airmatic MB's?

It worked on my E55, but i want to lower my E550 4Matic too.

When you are at the initial start screen, it will tell you the range of inclination angles it will accept. Just use those on the next page, and stay in the allowed voltage ranges

Why would anyone pay anything for this? If one cannot do it for free, one should not work with developer mode to start with.

I just had the dealer lower the E63 one inch. It resets the starting point. Since I did this to get negative camber I did not have it realigned. Car rides much nicer, and handled great on track over the weekend. Cost: $180.

I live in Pasadena, CA and just had my car lowered through STAR at a Mercedes Auto Shop here in Pasadena. Ask for Carlos. He was a MB tech for many years. Very nice guy and very professional.

His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
Front fog lights can be activated to function as a cornering aid in vehicles W203, W171, W211 and newer. This coding is available in the module Front SAM (SAM-V). Please note that in the early W211 models the right SAM (Passenger SAM) also needs to be recoded. I have found a number of units that were having the cornering light in the Driver SAM but the appropriate option was missing from the right SAM. In this situation, only the left cornering lamp will function – to overcome this, a right SAM would need to be replaced (rather na inexpensive from the second-hand market) Please note that for RHD vehicles the SAM functions are reversed (left vs. right, Passenger vs. Driver).
