Cracked HRE Monoblock
So my pops bought a set of HRE M43's back in August and has loved the lipless look. But the weekend before thanksgiving he cracked one. We were on the I10 from PHX to Casa Grande when we were getting off at are exit and he was in the fast lane and he switched lanes and when he did it kind of sounded like running over a reflector but a little tiny bit louder , so we didnt think any thing of it. We get to are property which is only about 1/2 mile off the highway and when I got out to open the gate I noticed the tire was deflated. I jacked up the car put the spare on and and inspected the wheel and tire. There was no bends on the rims and no holes on the tire. I looked at the back side and noticed a crack where the rim starts to bend and meet the tire. To my surprise the rim was not bent at all. I called Matthew at GMP since we bought them from him and he called HRE right away and there is a new wheel being made for free all we have to do is send back the cracked rim. Its pretty weird how this happen because there was no Pot hole and its a very nice well travel road. We even checked the tires before the trip and put 40 all around. Thank you to Matthew at GMP and Vinny at HRE.

Thats HRE for ya.. Always taking care of the customer. I always think of HRE as a step above others. Great company to say the least.
For future reference, IF you need a wheel fixed. I can fix them. Even cracks like that.

Since HRE's "forged" wheels bend so easily, it doesn't surprise me that their monos would crack. To the OP, do NOT bother getting a cracked rim repaired, it will never be the same and represents a genuine safety hazard. Welding + wheels = fail.

Wow! that suck! I hope everything work out. I'm was going to get the P40 but saw your 840R and changed my mind.

What's it matter if they stand behind their wheels or not when they crack for no apparent reason. Nice to know that your wheel may fail at interstate speeds. Makes you feel good about spending over $1,000 per wheel doesn't it?

Something
The rim was obviously cracked from a previous run in with something(pothole). Once changing lanes and going over the little bump, you hit it right on the head by setting up the bump and the previous crack. With the pressure built up inside the tire(40 is quite alot) and mixing that with a bump it made the rim crack even more. More so from the bump then the pressure.

what size rims? I run a max of 19s on sedans and 20s on SUVs as keeping some tire really helps ride and reliability on these rough roads around these parts...never bent a stocker

Scary crack and I agree, how did that happen with no apparent pothole damage? Strange, glad HRE is taking care of it, not great is the unknown.
