Pre-mod dyno ... a little low

Hi all

Here is a premod dyno I did yesterday. Only 368 HP. Couldn't get the torque reading. I removed the front cover and tried to hook the tach probe up to one of the plug leads but couldn't get a good tach signal. I was in a bit of a hurry so didn't mess with it too much. Does anyone know exactly where I can pull the tach signal? The place I took it to Dyno don't know much about Mercedes.

Dyno seems low. I have seen people putting 400s down. It probably didn't help blasting down the highway right before. Also I have noticed my S/C shuts down after several hard pulls on a hot day (at least that's what it feels like). I haven't checked IATs .. suspect my IC pump is not super healthy. That should change with the Meziere .. just thought I would share... Green line was 4th gear pull .. might ignore that one!

You can get the tach signal from coil #1. It's the first coil on the passenger side. Either plug wires on that coil is ok.

Thanks ... I tried that on the driver's side (number 2 I guess) but the tach signal was jumping all over the place ... line was not long enough to reach to passenger side. ... but should be the same right?

Is that from a dynamics or mustang dyno?

Thanks man ... good to know ... I would have tried that too but the line wasn't long enough! Makes sense I guess if you want to check timing ... and not want people to get the wrong line.

It's a dyno jet .. it says so on the dyno graph

I am willing to bet money your pump is dead. The same thing happened to me. I put down 395whp with a rather squiggly graph like yours and then swapped to pump and put down 429whp with a super smooth graph.

.
368HP with the typical 19% driveline loss factored in comes out to 455HP....

400HP would be a 494HP motor. That would be pretty stout for a "stock" motor.

Probably a little bit of heat soak....and as I'm sure everyone will start telling you the number itself isn't very useful since every dyno is different.

I'm greedy ... I want more ... hence the power adders to come

Thanks ... yeah I think there may be an issue there. As I had mentioned sometimes the supercharger seems like it is just not there. Any way to check the pump itself or just look at IATs? I guess it doesn't matter, either way it's going in the trash

Several folks on here say 469HP quoted is a marketing tool and real numbers are closer to 500 anyway. Numbers other folks have put out seem to support the 500.

The entire graph is squiggly which suggests low timing ( the ecu trying to protect the engine due to excess heat ).

Notice how squiggly your lines are vs. my latest dyno:

The lines are smooth and "smoothing" is at 0 vs. your dyno that has "smoothing" set to 5.

Thanks for taking the time to explain! I guess I really need to fix that heat issue (soon ... soon ). I think the ambient was only 90 that day.
