SLR 722 Transmission Solenoids Valves
As I suspect is commonly known, the current part numbers for the E55 and Maybach 722 transmissions solenoid and pressure control valves are now the same (A 240 270 01 80 & A 240 270 00 89). However, the same valves for the SLR 722 transmission are different (A 240 270 00 80 & (A 240 270 02 89.
Anybody know anything or am I going to be the guinea pig?

from what i've heard (I could be wrong), Renntech uses the MayBach Transmission solenoid replacements for their (Transmission Upgrade Package).
I was looking into doing this for improvements in terms of shifting; because, the s55/cl55 have completely different transmissions compared to the e55/cls55 and if changing the solenoids means that it can improve our shifting I'm all in on this idea.

That would be nice to have a quick trans. I would suspect over time a modded 55k hitting around the 600wtq mark would take its toll on that trans. Would be very cool though.

I had the blue top solenoids installed on my C55 trans (before I upgraded it). Before I did the mod, my trans was slipping from gear to gear. More so in the lower gears 2nd to 3rd. After I did the solenoid mod the slipping was gone... For a little while. However after installing the blue top solenoids. my down shifts were out of sync with normal braking. Meaning If I was coming up to a red light. I would start braking, when the car dowm shifted to adjust to the slower speed, it seemed the engine would apply more stopping power than what I was applying to the brake peddle. Kind of felt like downshifting a manual trans. When this would happen you could see the tachometer race up in the RPMs for a second.
In the the soleniod upgrade turned out to be only a band-aid to what was really going on with my trans. The slipping eventually came back. At that point I ripped out the trans and sent it off for repairs/upgrades.
After I got the trans with new clutch packs. The blue top solenoids were left in. The car ran like a bat out of hell, but that down shift issue was still there. Not sure if its something that can be fixed via STAR, IDK?
If you are looking to have some trans work done look into Renn-Haus. They have a former RT tech there Steve Jones who had build many of powerful MB-AMG transmissions

Bill was a design engineer for DB on the 722. He is very knowledgeable. He told me that MOPAR offers race TCU's.
After hearing about the MOPAR Race TCU I remembered seeing some videos of the SLR's and they really snap off the shifts. So, with that in mind, I am considering trying an SLR TCU. I see no reason why it would not be compatible other than I know the TCU & ECU talk to each other, but what they are saying is not certain. I suspect the ECU tells the TCU to change shift points during various throttle positions and I know the TCU also gets info from the steering angle sensor. Any thought's?

Went to install the "Blue Tops" today and SURPRISE! My 722 already had 'em (same part numbers too). I always thought my 722 shifted pretty well, but considering it's an '04 I didn't expect to see Blue Tops.
Anyway, we installed the new ones. If anybody wants the old ones PM me.

unless you can reprogram the gear ratios as the SLR has 3 something instead of the 2.6 you guys have i believe, it will just go into limp mode
SLR also has M1 and M2 modes and yes it shifts fast
AMG offer this upgrade to CLS55 owners from AMG, might want to look into that
