Gas Smell on Cold Start. Not Fuel Sending Unit Issue!

Hey guys,

I have an '05 E55 and on "cold starts" there is a very bad gas smell comming from the front of the car. If I turn the heat on the smell comes in through the vents. If the windows are down and I'm stuck at the lights the smell is unbearable.

It's not the common fuel sending unit issue many have experienced. The smell/fumes are 100% comming from the front of the car and mainly on cold starts.

Any ideas?

My fuel sending units are dry. Its 100% from the front of the car. Do you still get the smell on cold starts?

Anyone else?

I'm driving my car later today for the first time in a week. I'll let you know.

Does the smell from your car go away after it is warm too?

I started it after work and the smell was there. Drove to my mechanic and we couldn't replicate the symptoms. He let the car sit over night and in the morning when he started it the smell was there. So yes it's purely a cold start issue.
