Looks great! Are you going to get a before and after dyno? That would be awesome.

I don't want to knock it down because I would love to see a before and after dyno to see how well this works but the biggest problem we have in our intercooling system is airflow, not cooling per say. I don't see how making a longer intercooler is going to help airflow, in any case, it could make it worse.

I thought the limiting factor with the stock one was BTU exchange not airflow. So making it longer would allow more transfer or exchange of heat. But where is the bypass flap?

Because the stock intercooler dosen't flow that well or even cool that good for that matter.

Your worst nightmare...
Definitely looks good. Datalog the car (IAT's) and of course before and after dyno.

If I recall correctly when this came out there were only 2 guys running this, I am talking about years ago..1 was me and the other was Jackpro. It was sold to us from Evotech. The car was very violent of the line which is one of the benefits of eliminating the bypass valve.

Yes! About time! If it works and priced right, I will place an order for it.

Dyno/data log would be sweet!

Not really. There are a few tuners out there that will tune and shut that bypass valve off.

Yeah, the bypass valve delete isn't really a big deal.

I actually never understood why we had a bypass valve at all when the SC has a clutch. The purpose of the bypass valve is to reduce pumping losses due to driving the superchager to boost all the time. With the clutch there is no boost under normal driving conditions, so why did we need this? Maybe to make the engagement smoother? The CLK DTM did not have a bypass valve IIRC.

In any case this looks good and looking forward to the results.

That is correct, the DTM does not have a bypass valve. I believe the earlier SL55 also did not have the bypass valve, but people started complaining that it was violent and did not feel like a benz, so MB went and put it so the SC doesnt feel somewhat "engaged" at all times.

When I had mines it almost felt like the car wanted to go most of the time, sometimes jerky due to the acceleration and excess boost no where to go. it was definitely violent, and I loved it.

Nice work!

I'm working on one as well that is slightly taller and wider to increase flow area. I keep getting side tracked but this is great motivation! I think with the combination of our results, we would finally be able to end the debate on this stupid IC...

Looking forward to seeing your results

Nice work. This ads to EvoSport's FAIL, it takes them years to release a stupid Top Mount Intercooler. They think people on this forum are idiots by giving dumb updates like "we have good results, we're gonna post them soon" "it'll be released soon" BULL**** EvoSport in fact go dream on about getting $10,000 for your Top Mounts nobody is gonna pay even $5000.

Good luck OP and thanks for showing even more how incompetent EvoSport is.

How about you make you go back to that thread and bash Evosport all you want there, no need to bring your childish BS to this topic.

Great job to the OP, good luck with the new IC, lets see some data logs/dyno pulls once that bad boys installed

Congrats! Looks purty!
idk about losing the bypass valve, but perhaps you could add one back in from one of the surge tanks to the s/c inlet.

The bypass valve will help the engine achieve better MPG and run cooler. They could have used the bypass valve only and achieved the desired results. The supercharger clutch is probably just to help save the engine from excessive heat damage. The ECU detects too much heat and the clutch disengages.
