100k mileage E55 for sale, what should I do?

Hey guys,

I've seen quite a few threads posted here about high mileage E55s for good prices and some people taking the risk with them. I came across:

2004 Black E55 with 106k miles (daily driven)
Factory Navigaton, KeyLESS GO, 6 Disk in dash CD player, Heated/Air Conditioned seats, Sunroof
Brand New tires, rotors, brake pads
Brand new OEM Fuel Pump
Very clean on the inside and out

For $15.9, willing to negotiate for a quick sale...

Obviously I cannot get a warranty on this, but if I could get this down to like $15k, is it worth buying it with the mileage?

Parts can be expensive if you buy through the dealer, but like the others have mentioned, if you are a DIY'er you can find great deals here in the classifieds section or through online distributers like parts.com etc.

I have a few pics, but I'm going to get some more today hopefully and I'll post them up here.

I'm a bit of a DIY guy, mainly for simple japanese cars.. I've never owned or worked on a German car (especially one with this much technology), but the core concepts are all the same.

Here is my 5cents, I actually own one with 117k on odo, here is couple things that I had to change right away

Trans fluid and filter
Spark plugs and wires
Valve cover guskets
Supercharger clutch bearing

Things to come- water pump (just noticed yesterday when I was doing the pulley that it has some play in it)
Diff. Fluid
Supercharger fluid
Some of those might not apply if somebody has maintenance records, but those are the things you should expect. I did all the work myself and parts are not that pricey. Definitly for 15k is worth every penney

Great price if it is in good condition and you are a DIY guy. I purchased one with 104k miles and did all the work myself.

Also its a good idea to inspect the airmatic suspension for issues, as this system isn't a cheap fix when you have problems.
Keep in mind, that no matter what the car sells for that AMG parts aren't exactly cheap.

At that price it's probably gone already haha. Regardless, if it was clean, been maintained, i'd be all over it.

As long as the service has been on time and the cars been taken care of, then I say go for it.

Who's the ******* pricing these cars so low? Bringing down the value of our cars. Guess I'd doesn't matter too much, as I plan on keeping this car till I die

I just spoke with the guy.. he bought the car from an auction last year with 102k miles and he put 4k on it since then. Here are the minor issues the car has:

1) Key only starts the car, doesn't lock/unlock
2) Minor dent in passenger fender
3) Airbag light is on (he's saying it's most likely from the dent in the fender)
4) Him and his buddy did the brake work and he said the brake light indicator is on in the dash.

Seems like quite some work to start... would have to take this to MB dealer to clear some of those lights I'd assume. Also, he was kinda annoyed by the thought of a PPI.. another thing that weirded me out. I might just pass on it...

dent and airbag light = wreck

could be R title, but if you're serious - don't do it without the PPI and CarFax

If youre lucky its only batteries for the key, air bag light might be seat sensor which I think is on recall, also brake light is a whole story (you should do a search, common problem with e55)
If you get me the vin# I think I can check it through my auto club(carfax)

I picked up a high mileage (103K) E55 a couple of months ago and I would do it again in a heart beat. Parts are pricey but if you do your own work you really save a ton money.

My gut tells me he's dumping the car because he's scared of it.

Don't buy without a PPI. Nothing is cheap to fix on an E55.
