LOL MB Service, you're so silly.

So, as everyone knows, MB Service quotes outlandish labor times for everything. I have heard them quote 6 hours for a motor mount replacement, and I bet it would be double that if you have aftermarket headers. Well, today my friend and I replaced my drivers side motor mount, and from start to finish it took us less than an hour and a half. And, we did it with one rolling jack, one jack stand, a couple various wrenches and ratchets, a small pry bar, and a couple light sources. This was very simple and waaay quicker than what MB says. The only issue we had was getting the old mount out of the engine bay, which required us to jack the motor up higher and push the motor gently to the passenger side. This was due to my Kleemann headers getting in the way. The mount was totally effed up, and a collective of people figured this to be the culprit in my vibration under the accelerator during heavy acceleration. Negative, once i pulled out of the garage and gunned it...vibration was there, now it is worse I will get back under the car this week and check the header clearance again, and this weekend replace the passanger motor mount. Anyone else ever have this problem?

these need to be done in pairs, also check to see if any rims are bent, tires need to be rebalanced and if your hubs and bearings are tight, and all lugs are tight

I've swapped out one motor mount on vehicles before. Better to do both, and really how it should be done.... Really will not hurt anything if you don't though.

Plans already made to replace the other mount this weekend, I will also look at adjusting my driver side header too. It's not the wheels for sure, I know what that feels like and this is different. I think even after I replace the other mount it will come down to making an adjustment to my headers. Thanks for all the insight.

your header might be rubbing up agains your stearing knuckle i had that issue when i had long tube headers that were poorly made by Fluid motor union. Just another thing to look at.

Bruce ordered them from MB for me when I first started having the problem. Just another way Bruce goes out of his way for his customers.

If it vibrates in neutral when the engine is slowly revved, replace the tranny mount, but do it after both motor mounts. You need to isolate if the vibration is engine or drive train related and go from there. Search for a thread I made a while back about vibration and noise, there's some good info in there.

Hah, mine is in the shop now getting $1k in fluid changes. That 40k B service on the black series is pretty crazy, luckily the other services are fairly reasonable.

Congrats on wrenching it yourself.

replaced the other mount today, still having the issue during medium to heavy acceleration. Friday I will look at making some adjustments to the headers/midpipe/heat shield. I'll post an update then. Thanks for all the input.

My cost was about $450 including parts. I will check and confirm.
