Video of limp mode.....thoughts?

Here's the vid of the last run when the car went into limp mode. I immediately thought the trans was broke again. After the first one, I've always been scared to brake the other one. But, it's all part of the wonderful game we play when we mod and race.

The funny thing was, I think that was my best reaction time ever. Yet I ended up with a bad 60ft. Go figure.

I thought you guys would get a kick out of that. And I was trying to lay down some rubber to launch on and it kinda worked. It still felt like it spun a little. But it wasn't bad. You should have seen people's reaction after that. Bwahahahhaahahha!!!!!

Thanks mang! That's really all I'm doing right now, working on the launch. The heat isn't going to let me hit 10s right now. But I'm good with that. When the cold weather hits it's 10s for sure.

Wooooooooooow!!!!!!!!
Thank you soooooo much for that valuable piece of information. I can now continue my quest.

And just so YOU know, I did know that. I was just trying to get a good reaction time and 60 at the same time. It makes my videos look better.

That is exactly what mine does sometimes. I thought I was the only one. When you shut it off and restart it, it was fine right?

Yes. But the star said that the trans was slipping and that's why it went into limp mode. So we cleared all the codes and reset everything through star. Now if anything comes up we will know there is a problem. Hopefully there won't be. I've been highway pulling all day and there has been no problems so far.

About how many passes you have on this trans?
Are you in dyno mode?

Always in dyno mode at the track. And about 15 passes on this trans. Why? What's on your mind? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Just trying to piece together why this happened.

Can you get a decent burnout without using dyno mode? It seems hit and miss with this platform. If you could, I would try again without using dyno mode.

I was listening to your run where you went into limp mode, right at 40-41 seconds, it sounds like there is a pause in the exhaust. (Keep repeating it if you already havent from that point). lol Was that the top of first right before the shift and it wouldn't go into second? Does your TCU have torque limits removed entirely or just raised??? Did it throw a tranny code and the ECU tried to back off fuel? Well those are my thoughts...

I've done both. Dyno mode works best.

That's it! That's what I felt, only to me inside the car it seemed to feel worse than it looked. I seriously thought it was broke. It bucked really hard. Then tried to shift then didn't. And then it was stuck in first. My heart sank when it all happened. I'm so flipping happy it wasn't broke.

This is correct!! You can sit at the tree after the green light drops for 5 mins and when you decide to leave your 60ft will still be whatever it is. The R/T is measured in thousandths of a second in regards to how you react to the tree when you cross the beams after the light drops.

Come on now Steve. Of course I knew that, that's why I put that dumb a*s answer up there. I'm not going to do it to you though.

Unless you're on a drag radial you most likely made it worse. Try to go behind a car on slicks or drag radials, that will lay some rubber down that's sticky. Street tires tear up that thin layer of rubber on the track that really makes it sticky. Your 60 foot times are really good for a street tire on a 4200lb sedan though!

Don't yell at me if you're on a drag radial though (it does look like you have some dedicated track wheels). lol Just some advice cause a lot of people on street tires tear up the line and it upsets people on slicks/drag radial when they do that.

I won't yell, brotha. But I'm on CLKs with Hoosiers. I'm gonna try an actual slick next time. Amx1397 always hooks with his set up. I think I'm gonna borrow them to see how they hook on my car.

Tranny might have gone into limp mode during the end of that $$ burnout, you know when the tires went from 120mph to 0mph in no time lol, probably threw the slipping code right there.? Maybe ? Again glad nothing's broken!
