TPMS Sensor Options With New Wheels
What do you guys do about the sensor when upgrading to new wheels? I don't want to pull them out of the old wheels. Where is the best and cheapest pace to get a set? Thanks

Thanks Aaron I saw that site when I was searching, I guess $169 is a good deal. Just hope they fit my new wheels.

Yes, please search before creating yet another new thread.
1. Inflate all tires to pressure listed on tire placard.
2. Turn ignition to ON position (engine off).
3. Press forward/back button on steering wheel until trip and odometer are displayed.
4. Press UP/DOWN button until tire inflation pressure monitor is displayed
5. Hold down reset button (located on instrument cluster) until MONITOR CURRENT TIRE PRESSURE? Is displayed.
6. Press + button TIRE PRESS, MONITOR ACTIVATED-PRESS. DISPLAY AFTER DRIVING A FEW MINS. is displayed.
7. If REACTIVATE-TIRE PRESS. MONITOR! Appears, repeat relearn procedure.
8. If CHECK TIRES! appears, indicates tire pressure too low, adjust pressures accordingly.
Relearn New Sensor Ids
Ensure all tires are inflated to the pressure listed on the tire placard. Vehicle must be driven for at least 10 minutes, while maintaining speed above 15 mph in order for system to learn new sensor IDs. If spare tire sensor ID is being programmed, a properly formatted scan tool is necessary.

They are more trouble then they are worth to me. I'm going to install 20" wheels with a 25 series on the back. I'm not sure if you ever had to remove a tire with such a low profile? Trust me its not fun. I watched a high in shop do it and it took 3 guys fighting all the way to get the tire off.
I don't want to take the chance with having the tires installed and running into any issues with the sensors being damaged.

so if your car doesn't have TPMS and you get the TPMS modules installed, does it just take a STAR update? or do you need a separate TPMS module too?

In the end I decided to have the sensors installed after all. The new wheels are in the garage waiting for the weather to get warmer to lower the car and install them.

Drove the car for the first time today with the new wheels/tires and went to setup the resetting TPMS but couldn't find it in the settings.
Went on a 40+ mile ride and was waiting for the TPMS warning light to come on but never did.
I guess someone disabled it?

Does anybody know if the stock MB (the grey ones) TPMS work on aftermarket wheels? Mine are 19" KR647 wheels. I don't think they have the rectangular recess on the inside of the wheel like my oem 18" wheels.
