E63 Mufflers + X Pipe on E55 - Sound Clip Inside

Finally got around to tweaking my exhaust a bit more and thought I'd share a quick sound clip.

The setup is E63 Mufflers + X Pipe in place of resonator. No other mods.

Very happy with the result

Nice refined sound, now go and get some headers to bring out the beast noises and performance.

Thanks. No none at all, it sounds pretty much stock cruising anywhere between 65-75mph. When you punch it though, you can definitely hear the difference. The most noticeable thing is the change in tone and "growl" the exhaust has now versus the "bassy" sound that it had before.

I posted a WTB thread in the classifieds for them and a member emailed me with pictures. Ask around and I'm sure you'll find a set of 63 mufflers in no time!

The X-pipe was 3in. No pics while it was on the lift but i'll try to get my gopro under the car soon and see if something comes out clear enough to see. The shop welded the x pipe in right by the underbody brace where the resonator ends.

Two Torque Monsters...E55/Viper
Congrats OP! So, for the experts here can you chime in on the varous OEM options for our E55's. i.e. is C63 the loudest, but requires a bit more moding to fit vs. E63? Which other options are out there for condieration as I'd like to make a change as well...

E63S
Now ditch the secondary cats. I have had that setup for a while with E63 mufflers, love it. Picked up C63 mufflers but changed my mind, those were sold quick to MI55ILE without even listing them for sale lol.

just my opinion but from all of the different E55 exhaust setups i've heard over the years as soon as you delete your secondary cats the exhaust tone changes and not for the good..... my .02

Which X-pipe did you use?

I'm looking at Magnaflow Tru-x X-pipe vs Tru-X crossover pipe.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02xypipes.asp

The crossover looks like a better fit in place of the resonator.

I was visiting friends in the LA area when I had the work done. The shop is called Best Muffler in Tujunga and I paid $150 out the door for parts and labor. If I was in the OC area I would have gone to Mesa Muffler, I've been there before and their work has been great.

According to those pictures I used the crossover pipe. Like you said, that fit the best. GL

Thanks. From what I understand, all the OEM options require a bit of modding to fit perfectly. The CLS and SL mufflers require the most work. My E63 mufflers came off an '09 and didn't line up exactly right, so some of the piping from behind the tips had to be removed and the hangers bent slightly to fit like OEM.

And as far as noise goes, I remember reading in another thread that loudness went something like this:

C63>E63>CLS55/63>SL55>E55
