Finished my Calipers today
The decals finally arrived from the States today and what I thought was going to be an easy job turned into a complete PITA. Somehow the brake dust had baked itself into last weeks paint and I had to respray 2 more layers of signal red to get them looking half decent before I could apply the AMG decals. I finished the job off with 2 layers of clear coat. I hope the clear coat prevents any further brake dust 'baking' issues. Total cost of the job was $ 45.00.

I have a computer display for professional graphic designers that has a much wider color gamut than typical displays. That red pops so hard it nearly seared my titty-gazers. Looks good.

I put clear coat over the vinyl logo's to prevent them from being damaged when the calipers are cleaned. The clear coat also helps the red 'pop' even more.
Just wish there was no such thing as brake dust!

I used a wire brush to scuff paint and too remove brake dust and I used paint thinners to wipe it all down before taping to remove residue/grease/oil. Masking tape to cover the areas you don't want painted and some cardboard to mask off the wheel well. The paint is the most important stuff - only use brake caliper paint or high temperature paint. I did 5 coats, with 1 hour drying time in between on each caliper, applied the decals and then 2 coats of clear. As far as lessons go, your prep work should take the longest - prep, prep and more prep. Go easy on the paint applying light coats each time or you will get a run and will have to start all over again. Be sure to have lots of light to see spots you might miss and lots of ventilation as the paint is nasty. I had all 4 wheels off the ground at once, on jack stands, so I was able to go from 1 to the other. Also, do this over a weekend so the paint can get extra drying time overnight. Hope this helps?
