Chinese Smartkeys? key programmers?

The car I just got only came with one keyfob. I'd like to have one or two more just in case, and searching through these boards indicates that the only way to get keys is to just order from the dealer, and take it like a man.

Is this still the case, with chinese blanks being available, including some gizmos that pretend to be key programmers?

AK-500 PRO will let you program key but it costs about $2000

Wholesale price for a key is about 140 and with a key blade about 190

What about the car being able to program a blank key? There are sporadic mentionings of this possibility.

I agree. I'll have to wait and see if that is what my local dealer will charge me though.

This, I get keys for $180 (non keyless) from my dealer. Thought about purchasing a key programmer but it was too much of a hassle to learn how to use the machine, make sure I had keys, then program. $180 at the dealer and I get it in 2 days no worries.

How much are the 'blank' key fobs with no metal portion from the dealer & china?

I saw one on ebay for about $90 shipped. If the car could program it, then it would be a deal.

Keyless go is another issue that I had not thought about. I have it, I like to retain it, and so that would add to the cost yes?

less than 50.

from what i understand you have to buy credits online from some website to reprogram the keys that is when it gets expensive. now if you get the AK-500 Professional version for about 2k you dont have to buy credits online

Yea I saw that when I googled the product info. So $50 for non keyless go, you save $150 per key that you make. Guess it would be worth it after 15 keys made then. Might be a year or 2 before I start seeing some results.

You can buy it from your dealer or you can buy a key programmer. The good key programmer for MB I know is AK500+, you can ahve a try.
