Gots me some gears coming

After bugging chawkins about it for ever I decided to get some 3.06 gears if I was smart I would of done it last year when I got the posi installed. This should be a nice load off this heavy car. In theory with gears the car will have to not work as hard to get her moving, also for at the track staying in the powerband never hurts either so I would expect mph to go up. will post install pics and let everyone know how she feels on the street soon.

Were you able to source all the seals on the diff? I'm thinking of installing a Wavetrac but haven't found a good place for axle seals, cover gasket...etc. although I haven't searched too hard.

Mercedes
I just finished installing an LSD differential from an E63 into my E55. Included with that was a change to 2.82 ratio. It feels amazing, and definitely worked out great. The SL55 has a 2.82 ratio from the factory, so it's clear a slightly lower ratio is more ideal for performance.

I can now launch in second gear, and it pulls really hard. Only complaint is on the highway it cruises at a slightly higher rpm, but not a big deal. We had to get different axles for the diff, there was two different style axles used on W211 and my existing ones were not compatible.

And the best part? The entire rear diff with factory LSD was only $600 shipped!! And I already sold my old diff for $450!!!

IMO; 2.82 or 3.06 are the best, higher than that will make big headache to ESP/traction>>more wheelspin>>less rear tyres age..!!
