Looking for comparasons- BIP tcu vs. EC tcu tune
I'm debating either getting a tcu tune, or getting water/meth injection.
From what I have read the BIP tune sounds like the better one, but have not had seen any feed back from owners, just what Craig has said about what they can do. I have read lots about the EC tune.
So, anyone with a BIP tune can you give your feedback?

For my gear change had to get the eurocharged tcu tune its unreal what that little gear change did. but for the record with the stock gears I ran the bip tcu tune with no issues. Changing a gears in these cars is tricky with tcu and the values of the gears need to be dead on to work and jerry got it.

I know alot of these tuners will flash your TCU and if you don't like it, they will re-flash it back to stock and refund your money.
In that case, you'd only be out shipping and a few days of downtime.

My brother in law has a SRT8 charger with the Diablo predator handheld tuner and made a world of a difference in the way it shifts. Same trans with a lower tq rating. That's the type of improvement I'm looking for.
Maybe BIP can chime in and let us know what they promise?

This place is a joke.
Not overly impressed with my TCU tune. I had it done by EC for my 2.82 gear, which worked flawlessly. I also asked to leave the stock redline (shift RPM) Other than that, it makes the transmission more "clunky" whether it's putting it in gear from a stop or between light to medium gear shifts. Once in a while I get a nice 2nd gear chirp..if the ESP doesn't shut the throttle first from traction loss. Overall, my car now shifts more like my Dodge magnum than a Mercedes..it drove much smoother before the TCU tune. I saw no gains in the 1/4 either.

That's the thing, if I'm getting a tune it better be something I like, produce more firm shifts and faster.

My old stock GTO made an insane difference. 1-2 shift would spin pretty hard. removed all Torque management 100%. Not sure if these tunes do that much or not. Higher pressured really firmed up shifts on the GTO but agian I cant even really tell on this car. I dont know if the tuning just isnt there yet for these or for some reason the MB trans just isnt capable of fast shifts or what.....

I have no experience with the companies you've mentioned in regards to a TCU tune, but I had Steve @Weistec do the TCU on my CLS and I am impressed with it. Highly recommended.
Night and day difference especially with the 3000 stall converter I installed. It was undrivable IMO with the converter and no tune, now it shifts normal when yould want it to shift normal, and firm when you're getting after it.

pre gears with the bip tcu tune with my 3000 stall was a great improvement I did not get a chance to race the car with that set up how ever there is torque reduction that is removed in the tcu that you can fee m mode was super fun. Depending on your set up you cant go wrong either way.

I had all my tunes done by Kleemann ,ECU and TCU , always had good luck, what I noticed about my TCU tune is it revs a little higher then stock, from my research into harder shifts our cars roll off the throttle a bit during shifts,I have an SL ,I believe the E series rolls off a little more then SL does, what does this mean,I'm guessing no matter what you do to the trans I'm not sure you can program out the TB rolling off that little bit,and I think if you could the trans would get beat up doing so ,but I bet you would get some improved qtr mile times till the trans blew lol, this is what I have been told by two tranny guys who build Benz trans ,so if I'm not 100% correct don't crucify me! I am not a transmission expert.i was told a high perf trans rebuild would give me firmer shifts ,not faster shifts !

I would like to get a TCU tune that reduces the time between shifts. When my car shifts, it acts like a clutched car. I got an EC TCU tune and I didn't see any improvement in that. Maybe there is no fix for that? Anyone else experience this?

Cntrline I know you spend a good amount of time at the track (running tens!!!)
I was wondering if you have any comparison runs before and after the TCU tune?

I am a transmission builder buy trade. When I bought my e55 I was floored by the soft shifting. I got the Eurochrge TCU tune and was very disapointed. There was a minamal change in "M" and the rev limit shuts the engine off at redline wich is a real pain in the *** if I am late on the shift.Anyway I sent my valve body to IPT and will see how it works after they do there stuff. I could not find a shift kit or understand the hydrulics of the 722.6 pressure pathways to even begin to modify it myself so off to the pros on this one!

I have heard good things about southern hot rod ,they build a lot of stuff for mopars, which I believe use a 722 which version not sure,
The ONLY reason I got a TCU tune was because I was having trouble 1-2 shift it would go into limp mode , I didn't notice ANY difference in shifts, other then higher shift points, but I put cams in my car so maybe that's why they raised the rpms on shifts ,I too would love to bang all 3 shifts but I was told it would destroy the trans lol

after talking to a trans guy I guess our trans are not made to slam like a gm trans, my buddies g8 will chirp 3rd without flooring it. perhaps a built trans with a good valve body on e55 would be a huge difference.

I know it is possible to bang gears with our trans another words hit 2nd hard enough to lay rubber, with a piggy back type unit. Some may remember i started to develop one, but ran out of time to work it out perfectly once i had my boy. Maybe we cant with the software in the stock tcu. I dont really even want laying rubber, well I do, but any firmness improvment would be nice with just a tune. 99lightning the only guy with a BIP tune?
