It's been 6 months and I'm still looking for my perfect E55

Here's what I'm holding out for:

2005/2006
Silver or White
Fully loaded (and I mean it, distronic, etc.)
Less than 45k miles
Anywhere in the USA

Thus far I've only found one and it sold to another buyer within hours.

I'm starting to think I'm running a fool's errand...maybe this car just doesn't exist anymore? Like looking for a unicorn

Thoughts?

I think looking for less than 45K miles on a 2005-2006 is unrealistic..
You can definitely find everything else..
I suggest bumping the mileage up to 70K. Just ensure it's certified and/or has a good service history.
I purchased mine last year for $24K with 63K miles with a spot on MB service history and it's good to go!!
You're missing out on some good deals and the mileage is just going to get higher..

I agree with bumping up the mileage criteria. 60-70k mileage range and you will find a car that has everything else.

I did take me 7 months to find my SLK55. I wanted a specific color with the 030 Performance Package which made it a hard find, I didn't care about mileage though..

Thanks but I need the lower miles to get a warranty. I drive 18k miles a year so a warranty is a must have on an amg. During my only 4yr ownership of the SL55, claims paid were more than $30k

Keep trying. You will find it. I got my '06 Silver E55 2 months ago with 40K miles on it. Pano roof, Parktronic, Distronic, Clean carfax. Cost me grand to have it shipped from out of state but well worth it. Just be persistent and check autotrader and cars.com listings daily...

Hahahaha so you're the buyer from TEXAS!!! You bought it from a dealer in Toledo Ohio, pricepro or something right? My goodness, you beat me to it! It was a 3 day weekend and you wired the money on the first day the banks were reopen, as I recall. $23 grand for that thing was a f-ing steal. Don't think they had any idea what they had.

I gotta ask...How's the car been?

They are out there. I picked up a beautiful silver 2005 last year with under 50k miles for $18k. Stock and well equipped.

Man I hope so. I search everyday on 5 different sites. here's e55 production numbers 05/06:

2005 - 2214
2006 - 1187

of these 3400 cars, how many are fully loaded in white or silver? maybe 100? of the 100 how many have less than 45k miles on them now?

edit: if I could retrofit distronic (or distronic plus) I wouldn't have to buy one with factory distronic (that's the least common option IMO)....not sure if that's doable though
edit 2: problem solved: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...-retrofit.html
Edit 3: ouch retrofit costs $3200

I would say jump on whatever comes close to what you want. Its hard to find these cars as is and with the options you want it only gets worse. It took me like 3 months to find mine, it didnt have some of the things I wanted but it was so good of a deal I couldnt pass it up

Oh ****!!, thats crazy! That was me. LOL! Sorry bro, I guess I had the time zone advantage for the banks to open after that long weekend. Yeah I had been searching for like 6 months like you. There was another one in Houston if I recall, very similar but a few more miles and someone beat me to it right before I found the Ohio one.

Yeah, the car has been good so far. I was a little skeptic at first about buying a midwest car though. Decent shape in and out. I had a prepurchase inspection done. The dynamic seats do not work, came with no floor mats, stock rims have scratches, but other than that its tip top. And 40K miles! Im happy with it. Just upgraded my cooling and installed MBH headers and Xpipe. Its a blast to drive. Keep your chin up. You'll find one. And if not, C63's should be dropping in price over the next few years...

Man you got a steal, I'm jealous and happy for you. I was skeptical of priceco at first because on Saturday they told me they had a "buyer who's wiring money on Tuesday"... Then they told me that I could have the car if I wired the money to them before then... But no banks would do that on a Saturday and I would be buying sight-unseen and w/o inspection.

Adding distronic will cost at least 3 grand so I'm better off looking for one that already has that option (and the rest of the other options).

Why does Distronic retrofit cost that much, are you basing that price on brand new OEM parts or from wrecker yards?

There's a bunch of old threads on how to do this and how much it costs...and yes, they were probably using OEM parts. Your point is well taken however, these cars are getting old and used parts should be popping up (and I think the SL, CL, and S classes all have the same distronic parts as the E, if I'm not mistaken)

Question Would you consider a Silver 03 with 45k?

I've been contemplating selling my Silver 03 E55 (Pano) with only 45k miles.
I obviously don't drive it enough... May be time for a different toy.
If interested let me know, I'll give you more details. Really not much to say other than it's all stock other than CF front lip and in great shape. Not a ding!

Pretty high for a non-moded and clean e55, $25k ish depending on miles. But gotta have all options be silver or white and be an 05, preferably 06, under 45k miles.

By the way...I just heard from mbenzNL... the parts alone for the distronic retrofit are $2k if you go through them.
