I want to go to a full slick... looking for the pro's help...

my local track is an 1/8 mile track, its minutes from my work so other options are not worth driving for and i need to adapt my car to this track... i consistantly run 7.50s at 93-94 mph and this is with a 1.7x 60ft... i run 255 50 16 MT drag radials on e320 wheels with a 10mm spacers... my mods are 180mm/84mm pullies, 84mm TB, long tubes, no cats, trunk tank/ HE with rule 2000/ mezeire 136, single pass intercooler, water/meth 550 injectors, 3000 stall, built transmission, TCU tune and K&Ns...

I want to go to a full slick... looking for the pro's help...-20150523_220035_zps6a16p9sl.jpg

Ultimately, if i stall up the car spins... this is after doing a good burnout, shifting to 2nd and barking the tires... i CANT leave on full power, i have to feather the throttle and if i dont time things just right then the tires will shutter really bad... i do not have an LSD yet, and i plan to build some rear suspension bushings for the rear suspension when i finish wiring up my lathe...

So here is what ive been thinking about... option one, which is not a true slick, but Mickey Thompson ET street 26 x 11.50-17 on a set of C32 wheels i have that are 17x8.5 and my appeal to this is that they are AMG wheels that are very similar to the factory wheels, for that sleeper effect...

my second option and my most optimistic is an M&H 26x12.00x16 full slick... my hang up comes with finding a wheel to put it on... i and not really interested in spending $400+ per wheel to have some made, so in attemts in finding something else that would work... i found a "salad shooter" C4 corvette wheel that is a 16x9.5 ET38 that can be bought for super cheap and have inserts put in to change the bolt pattern... the biggest issue with these wheels is they are the ugliest things on the planet, lol...
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mnh-mhr091/overview/

now i have read that there are some older 16" SL wheels that might work, but i cant find anything on these wheels... honestly, i dont really even know what to look for... what are my option for a 16" rim that is wider than 9"???

You can try these guys for wide 16's. I've never used them but it may be worth a look. http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/index.php

Try to figure out why your mph is so low with your mods before getting tires as the MT are good tires only bested by Hoosiers of the same size. Tried and tested by lots of guys in the 10s

What range of tire pressure have you tried? Maybe too much air in there.

Hoosier makes a 16" slick called the Quick Time Pro. It's really light weight, too. If you can get some of those 16" CLK wheels and those tires, you'll be amazed at the weight loss. Stock rear wheel with a tire is 55 lbs. A CLK wheel with a Hoosier QTP is 35 lbs.

94 mph is slow in the 1/8??? i have tried from 14-17psi, the contact patch looks great, it just wont hook at full power... this is a grudge racing track, and everyone wants a pice of that "moe-say-deez", so having to deal with feathering the gas, sucks... because if it blows the tires off, then its over...

Have you tried just holding the rpm to 1200 or so and then just smash the pedal to the floor? You should build more torque/power off the line by not stalling up real high and flashing the converter. Brake stalling off the line can be tricky to not brake spin the tires, unless you are running a brake line lock.

Slicks would be a big help though.

I agree with centerline, you will stop blowing the tires off. Add a LSD to use more of the power you are currently making, other wise its like a ricer dumping the clutch at 5k rpms calling it traction problems with your current setup.. Sounds like the converter is an all or nothing thing off the line. Haven't seen any responsible for a 10 second pass or a 1.5x 60 ft. Unless I missed something. If you do go with a slick is the O.D. of the tire close to the same or smaller so you don't lose with gearing while trying to gain with traction?

With your power, you need LSD bro. You will hit 1.6s or better on same track conditions.

So what are everyone's thoughts on going to a wider tire... I am stoked at how the car responds, I love the drive ability, but it needs more traction... my searching has revealed that no one has gone to a larger slick, is there a reason why, will a 26×11 or 12 inch tire physically fit under the .?? I am an out of the box thinker, and don't mind doing the work...

Your 8th mile is an 11.70 time slip in the 1/4.

If you painted the c4 centers some kind of dark metallic grey and polished the outer lip could look decent. Cheap alternative to fit a real tire. I built a set of 17" welds but even then I'd love to go a smaller rotor / caliper from a base e class to run 15s and a full slick.

I think the issues you are having stem from the fact that the timing person thinks you are an AHOLE.

Other people have gotten low 1.50's with a DR (NOT A SLICK) so maybe people are suggesting that you look into other issues with regard to your set up, because your 60' isn't in line with your mods, so a full slick isn't going to reap any benefits.

Like several above have mentioned, you will be better off putting that money into a quaife or any other brand lsd.. With slicks you will end up spinning one tire on your burn out.. Happened to me when I had my C55... I would do a burn out and it was one legged lol. Everything changed once I put the quaife in....

I have run a small bias ply tire. Do you have skinnies up front? You're not supposed to mix bias ply tires with radials...
