Smile Need advice from wise folks

Hi guys.

It's been a while since I last logged in to this web site. I sold my 05 E55 11 months ago and I regret I did so ever since. It was a fun car to drive, and despite what others say I loved the handling of W211, it was the best I've driven, even on canyon roads the car was a charm. But I had to go for the piece of mind instead of fun at that time. So I got myself brand new Audi with 2.0T engine. Needless to say I don't like anything about it, hadling sux, acceleration sux and surprisingly mpg sux too, I get 11-12mpg in a city on a 2 liter 4 cyl engine I was getting 10-11 on tuned AMG.

Now, I'm shopping for another AMG car and about to pull a trigger on black 05 CLK55 Conv AMG, sweet car with 13k miles, very rare find. I'm also getting warranty from Bruce or another guy who was advertising on this forum a while ago, their rates are good.

The thing I don't like about CLK is dual exhaust. The installaton of quads is gonna be my first and probably last mod for this vehicle. So the question to them wise folks is IS my Fidelity warranty gonna have problems with my exhaust? I dont want to go the "fake" way (just welding the tips on another side) I want to install the real quad exhaust. Please advise

I got a CLK55 after I sold my 04 E55.... not comparable whatsoever. Sold it 3 months later and now I'm back in another E55. I think you should look for an SL55. Think about it, it will come with quad tips

SL55 sounds like a great idea I do like the looks a lot, my second favorite Merc (from the old ones) first being CLS I don't want another E55 just because looking for a convertible. But I did like how heavy but yet agile E55 felt on a road, very confident feel, does the SL feel the same way?

Both are heavy but the E55 is far from agile. The SL's ABC suspension does make a huge difference in how heavy the car really feels... nearly no bodyroll and the rear end does seem easier to rotate in turns.

I wish there were good SLs available where I live, the nearest clean SL is in Texas., another one is in Illinois. By the way what didn't you like about CLK?

I made an account just to say that each of every one of you commenting about "the best way to build a fake is exhaust" ought to be ashamed of yourselves. How shallow and pathetic are your lives that you feel the need to spend money to build a fake exhaust system on your cars - money that you clearly can't afford to waste, given your inability to buy an actual sports car?

Let me be clear, my wife and I make decent money (>$225K/year between the two of us), but we can't afford to drive true sports cars without compromising on our daughter's college fund or our retirement, so we both drive Nissan's. If we made another 100K/year, I might drive a car that has an engine large enough to need quad or even duel exhaust, but as it is, nothing I can afford to drive on a 2 percenter (not quite into the 1 percenter category yet) salary warrants such.

But you know what, I don't care, because we live in a nice house, have a small fortune saved for retirement, and we will be able to pay for our daughter to attend any university she wants.

Maybe you should think about reprioritizing your life before you **** away money you can't afford to waste on something as stupid as fake exhaust on a production car. It's absolutely pathetic, even before taking into account the lack of integrity that it exhibits. If you add fake bull**** on your car, what else in your life is fake (your degree, your social media account, your marriage...)? Maybe you should ask yourself what you intend to achieve by "upgrading" your ****ty car's exhaust? Do you want your friends to think you're cool, or do you want to impress a girl? If so, you've got idiot friends and/or you're attempting to impress a moron of a girl.

My god, I've wasted more than I should have on this already. Immature ***** like such as you won't bother to digest what I've said anyway. I'm sure you've got it all figured out already...have a nice middle America life (i.e. wallowing away as you make minimum payments on blistering debt).

LMFAO wow you are one to talk about PATHETIC .... you made an account ..... on a board for cars you dont own .... nor could OBVIOUSLY .... you know NOTHING about what is a true sports car if you think an AMG isnt one ..... then continued to make a post to complain and ***** and try to belittle people for liking quad tips or dual exhaust, you sir are not only immature, pathetic but a complete and utter moron!!

People that own these cars are ENTHUSIASTS .... i know a big word that you probably have trouble understanding seeing your limited views of exhaust and how it directly effects a cars driving experience and performance. Now let me school ya a lil bit on cars .... AMGs are true sports cars the e55 comes with a 5.5 supercharged 500 hp engine it NEEDS dual exhaust you fricking I dont have clue what Im talking about jizztissue, the quad everyone is talking about is a dual exhaust with quad tips! The CLK55 while it is not supercharged it still has a 5.5 liter 370hp V8 and dual exhaust does help it out. The guy was saying he didnt want to just weld on a section of pipe from the one side to the other with another set of tips. He wanted to actually install a dual exhaust with the quad tips noone has a car with quad exhaust that i know of and if they do its got to be a pretty serious car to need it.

Noone is saying having quad tips makes the car faster or that the size of your ***** are gunna triple .... seeing how you lack any to begin with an AMG may be a good idea for you lol. I didnt see anywhere where anyone explained how to build a fake exhaust .... the car comes from the factory with the quad tips it just looks nice to have them on both sides, so clearly your ... im having a midlife crisis and need some attention cause i dont get any action from my wife rant has ZERO merit.

Me and my wife make great money ... have a great home .... college set aside for all 3 boys .... a great 401K .... zero debt and she drives a new 2017 pilot (paid off) and I chose to buy an older 03 merc .... why because its a great car .... cant get anything with this build quality now a days and it will still destroy nearly anything on the road. Plus I can play with it, mod it, enjoy tinkering without voiding a warranty and i own it. Why your even here when u drive a Nissan is beyond me .... you obviously are not someone who appreciates cars and the driving experience, nor do you know anything about cars to begin with

But hey Sparky it was a pleasure to read your nonsensical rantings of a middle aged viagra taking nissan driving Butt monkey so thanks for that

FYI, I'm 33, and having a great year. It's interesting that a guy who spends substantial cash modifying his "sports car" would suggest that a guy driving a stock Nissan Frontier (that's what I drive, so that I can trailer my skiff, pay my bills, vacation when and how my family wants, and still afford to save ~$85K/year for college/retirement/savings) is the one who is compensating for small ***** and/or a ****ty wife...

I ended up here after seeing a meme on fake exhausts, which, by the way, I had no idea existed before tonight; and I was adequately irritated by the stupidity of the idea that I felt compelled to call you fake exhaust owning car "enthusiasts" the idiots that you are. You're right up there with loud motorcycle *******s. Essentially, if you modify a functional tool (like a car) merely to look or sound cool, you're a vain **** heel. If you veil your modifications as "performance mods," when you really just want a cooler looking/sounding car, you're still a **** heel.

It's that kind of look-at-me mentality that is responsible for the degeneration of western culture into the weak-spined integrity-lacking fake bull**** reality show that it is. It's same reason you can't buy anything made well in the US anymore...too many shortsighted fools want the look of luxury without actually being able to afford it. I drive a Nissan so that I can pump the extra $50K+ that I could have spent on a "sports car" into investments in my family's future.

Some people make a lot more than me, and they can afford to do what I do and drive a sports car (and maybe own an airplane and a yacht too), but I bet they don't **** around with fake exhausts.

But hey, you have fun with your loud super fast car circle jerk. I won't be checking back to see how it turns out.

Hi guys, I’m looking to purchase a fake exhaust for my fake E55. I’ve already installed a fake supercharger to my fake engine. Oh & ultra-rare fake tires onto my fake wheels, but it’s just not complete without the fake exhaust. PM me with your best price & I’ll pay you with fake dollar bills. Wtf..
