Side view mirror gaskets installed
There are only two ugly things I simply can't stand on the e55 I purchased, one the windshield cowl which I'll get around to replacing when I find one for a good price, and two the rotted torn up gasket seals for the side view mirrors. Well as everyone probably knows MB makes you purchase the whole assembly to get them, but I found some on Ebay for 65 bucks, I think its the same guy on the forum who goes by MBGaskets. But anyways put them in today and the fit is spot on, soooo much better.
Heres a link for anyone who needs a set

No they don't Parts.com does and Parts.com won't charge you as much for shipping as the part costs and parts.com won't compromise your credit card number like ECS tuning does....

They must have raised the price, I didn't pay that. At the end of the day I said where I bought it without issues and gave the part number. You want to talk about an issue concerning ECS then open up a thread about it since they are sponsors here.

It's the sun that makes the gaskets go bye bye. And I agree these things should be available for purchase without buying new mirror frames. Especially the more expensive power folding ones.

Someone here on the forums had a bunch made and was selling them. I forget who. Looks like this eBay seller might be the same guy:

No problemo.
Here's another cool "mod" to do if you are going to be taking your mirrors apart. Mine had the heated mirrors, a feature I never used. I found the blind spots in this car to be massive when using mirrors; I could lose an Excursion in them. I ordered the Euro mirror glass that has a convex outer edge. Since it is not the heated glass, the thick edge isn't there on the glass and it offers more surface area. Putting those mirrors on seems like it added 50% more viewing area.
Another tip, have a paint brush handy when disassembling. There's a bunch of dirt and crud that builds up on the inside; use that brush to clean the parts really good.

Thanks for the lead. If anyone else does this, be sure to buy a FIVE point TAMPER RESISTANT T-20 bit and a 6 point T-15 before you start. The FIVE point bit is not available at regular hardware stores. Go straight to Pep-Boys or some other well-stocked auto parts store if you don't have this already.

Too bad that it took a whole facelift for MB to realize that it would be smarter and safer to have them bolted on from the inside out instead vice versa.
