06-09 MIRRORS FOLDING VS NON-FOLDING

I recently sold a pair of facelift 06-09 side mirrors. They were non-folding.

The buyer who received it said all he did was buy the switch, add it to the mirrors and they folded by power.

I'm confused, these mirrors were non-folding, there was no switch in the car. It was not originally on the car though because it was on the E55 but was added aftermarket.

My question is, are all the mirrors folding and have the motors in place but need the switch or did he just get lucky and get ones that are folding and I just didn't know they were folding?

Can't the standard mirrors fold manually?

Yes, but not electronically from inside the car.

...yes, I know that was an option. I was talking about a pair of, apparently, non-folding mirrors made to fold only by installing the inside switch and nothing else ie. adding a folding motor to the mirrors.

That leaves 2 possibilities:

1. There are no NON folding mirrors, just cars without the switch inside plugged in to the door module.

2. The ones I had were folding ones but I didn't know as I hadn't taken them apart and the car they came off of didn't have the switch inside so I assumed they were non-folding.

I was just surprised. Good for the buyer, got a better deal than he thought I guess. Intriguing.

on my 06 they fold only for impact, they are spring loaded. They do not have a motor inside of them, so they cannot fold electrically.
Do you have a picture to post of your sold mirrors?

Would you be able to post a couple of up–close pictures of your folding mirrors including the switch?

TIA

Do you want to use the Delorean and go back to 2015 for him to respond?

My wife used the car for the first time and pressed the button between the mirrors setting and that turn the mechanism off.
Once I tried the process mentioned above and it did not work, I tried the button and voila they work! Thank you for continuing this thread!
