Intake Wrapped and Other Items...

Guys,

Curious on the thoughts on the look not sure if I like it. I showed a photo to a guy I know and he said "that sure is different"...

I have not seen it in person yet.

Two (2) layers of wrap to keep the aluminum intake cool: 1) Reflect-a-Cool Radiant Heat Barrier. 2) Top layer is REI Titanium wrap.

Also, Killer Chiller Installed. Picked up a 77mm S/C fixed pulley for a great price ($200) so figured "what the heck". Hopefully I get the car back later this week.

Custom tune next.

Looks different in a good way, very aggressive looking. Who are you going with for the 77mm FSP tune?

Are you combining that 77 with a crankshaft pulley?

Euro for the (file update - only $35 if you purchase a tune from them) and also custom tune.

Air is moving to fast to get any heat exchange that will negatively impact your performance

Centerline,
Thanks for this. I recognize there is some risk with this move. I am going to give it a shot. If it doesn't work out (or performs worse) I will change it back. On the boost chart a 154/77 shows 14.4. My previous with 168/84 shows 14.57.
When the 77 fixed came out The question was posed "how much more boost than an 83?" and the answer (very reputable source) wrote "1 to 1.5 psi".

I add this up it puts me at 16 with the chart reading a tad over 17.

You know way more than me and have warned in other threads. What should I watch out for?

Thank you, sir!

Tim

IMO a 168/77 is a bit much on a DD ,unless you have lots of cooling ,or run meth

The car isn't a DD, dragstrip demon, 1/2 mile car, or a street racer (a "pull" here and there...). When I am "on it" it is usually 4-6 seconds at a time from 20 or 60...

For those who have not seen "the chart" attached is boost based on pulley combo.

Centerline, in terms of cooling here is what I got:

Mez Pump
Engine Bay Tank
Killer Chiller
Managed Heat - Phase 1
Managed Heat - Working on Phase 2

I am picking up the car tomorrow from the mechanic (and personal friend). He says "the car is an absolute monster" with the KC and 77mm fixed with "instant response" versus the clutched 84. "Drives like it is stock"...

Anxious to see as I was in "hiccup heaven" with the clutched 84 (really bad in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear.

As far as more cooling I swore this would be my last mod. Just drive it an enjoy it. Well, if it needs meth or a trunk tank then so be it. I have come this far!

So did you notice any difference with the wrapped intake? Lower or same iat's? Sound? Thinking about getting one.

Engine bay is not as warm as before so some benefit.
Had a 77m fixed and KC installed so too tough to answer.

Big benefit in "heat management"...

Pull the weather strip at the front and rear of the engine bay and remove the 2 pans under the engine...

ok sounds all good but have you logged intake air temp?

I dont see how this will help to make the intake air temps cooler, once the air enters past the TB

I am guessing you are correct. I am not logging but want to keep the engine area (engine bay, engine, and everything else as cool as possible).

Prior to the wrap I felt like the aluminum intake created more heat (radiant heat or however you want to define it). Combine this with the "managed heat" the temp seems to stay lower and the heat escapes more rapidly from the engine bay...
