2006 E55 Wagon
Unicorn time...

Hello all,

I just joined and am strongly considering an W211 E55 Wagon. I'm a sucker for fast cars and wagons and after some really nice German rides over the years, I have set my sites on finding one of these. I know the rarity but am hopeful that if I'm patient enough (I'm not), I can find an 05/06 clean example with some lower miles. I'm pretty good at digging deep into the web to find obscure car posting and have only come up with the same few for sale. If y'all know of someone who's considering selling, or know of one that isn't on Ebay, Autotrader, etc. please let me know. After driving one earlier this week, I'm really itching to trade up from the 03 e39 540 Msport. I'm in SoCal.

Also, this looks like the best forum for MB? Are there any sites specific to e55? I can't seem to find one. Perhaps there are just too few...

Thanks for any help...

Travis

Thanks for the tips. I will keep an eye on the recommended thread. Are there other sites similar to mbworld? This site looks like it has good traffic. Again, I'm new to MB so thanks for answering my noob questions.

IMO this is the most active and knowledgeable. It can get brutal at times so thicken the skin

Ls,

So you're saying this is just like any other forum. Honestly, I have found Bimmerforums and M5 board to be pretty constructive. As expected, usually the ire is sparked by the refusal (or ignorance) to use the search button...

Thanks for the response and warning!

about a month or two ago there were a whole bunch for sale, but it's look like it's drying up again. To be honest with you, if you can find that have less than 100k miles and under $25k buy it and enjoy it. The E55 wagon only go up in price from now on.

Good luck in your search. I was in your shoes a few days ago until I finally convinced the previous owner to let me buy it from him. 45k mile blk/blk wagon I just picked up in Oakland and drove down this past weekend (speeding ticket in hand, knew I was going to get one when driving almost 500 hp wagon 350 miles down I-5.

Alihou007 thread you should check every day to see if any updates and start looking nationally on craigslist since they pop up every now and then.

2006 E55 Wagon
Max,

Congrats! (on the car, not the ticket). I hear you and already know that I'll see my share. I did the same thing you did with a Porsche I bought in NorCal. However, I flew up in the morning and drove it down the 101 vs. 5. I was hoping that someone would see my post who was on the fence and drop me a line.

Your car sounds amazing. Would love to get one with that few miles. I am trying not to rush but I'm not a patient guy. Perhaps you could PM me and let me know what you paid for it? I'm trying to figure out the pricing for these things. The one is Newport seems crazy high for what it is. I saw it and it's very clean but no records other than serviced at MB about 30K ago...

Good luck with your new ride

2006 E55 AMG Wagon
Bought mine on Bring A Trailer in December for $22,500. Very clean, 83,000 miles, had to replace rear bags ($1,300 at independent shop). It's a twin to the one in this factory photo:

Damn, Frank. That's a beautiful car! Nice purchase! It seems that I'm just weeks behind the curve when there were quite a few options on the market. I only see 1-2 on sale across the country and I'm pretty good at searching. I'm trying to be patient...

and its a beast - more refined than my E55 but still pulls like a freight train - power is more linear as we all now - seats a bit more comfy than the 55 too -

like said - my car is a 63 and is available - good luck with your search - if the sale price is right ill throw in a brand new set of shortie headers - retail was $1500 or ill sell for $600 separately

You can pry my E55 wagon from my cold dead hands

I was interested in the new E63S, but they don't come with a 3rd row!

Regarding the one in TX listed above , I contacted seller before I bought mine and his reason was so ridiculous I couldn't bother even responding back. I know you're on here and sorry for leaving you hanging, but your explanation that it's hot in Texas and the hot weather makes MB perforated leather weak and all e55's at this mileage have it some splitting made me run away from your car really fast, no looking back.

2006 E55 Wagon
Heavy travel this week and been away for a few days... I agree about the AZ car with ripped seats. Part of the criteria for a "unicorn" is low mileage but also very well kept. We all know there is a car for every buyer but that one is just not for me. I'm trying to be patient but there really isn't anything else out that there that compares. I thought about a 535 wagon and realize the performance difference vs. E55, and the more time that goes by, who knows... I'm still crossing my fingers that someone will have a lapse in judgement, or an angry spouse, and put their 55 on the market.

Crazier things have happened...
