Pulley guys....77mm or 83mm pulley (SL55)
I know alot of you E55 guys do pulleys, hence the post here. My 2007 SL55 is bone stock...I'm just looking for some extra power. I won't be tracking or drag racing.
On the fence on which pulley and tune to get. Looking for feedback from members using both pulleys, and if they are glad they chose their current pulley or if they should have chosen the other.
I realize a 77 will make more power, but my main concern is reliability and longevity.....bottom line.....I don't want to create problems by switching to a smaller blower pulley.
Thanks!

Both will create higher IAT's. IMO 83 and a tune is a good option and will work well with outside temps below 65-70. The 77 will require additional cooling mods. A larger heat exchanger is always a good idea, as the cooling meaning intercooler and HX are barely adequate stock. Even the 83 with stock cooling and high air temps may be slower than stock on a long pull due to higher IAT's and timing being pulled. Eurocharged has worked well for me.

83mm with a tune is great! 77mm will need more supporting mods. So it really depends on what you want, I can help you out.

The R230 SL has a bigger heat exchanger from the factory it is not like the small unit in the W211. With a Bosch 010 pump you will be fine to use a 77mm.
Look at post no 6 (R230 SL55)

Really depends how fast you want to go. The 83mm plus tune is great. I have stock cooling and have zero problems. It's a big difference 45 at the wheels. I do get into street races but it's a 1 time run. I don't do multiple races back to back. In the hot summer I can go WOT for 15-18 seconds before the car pulls timing. If you want more power after the 83mm then do headers. The exhaust manifolds on this car are a travisty and it mind boggling how it can do low 11 with them and the rear gears. Put those on a hellcat and it's lucky to hit 12's modded
