Coil Over question
Converted to BC coil overs, and the car rides HORRIBLY. No matter what setting, all the way firm or all the way soft, the car bounces all over the road. Any one have any suggestions? They are installed correctly, I am not a pro mechanic, but I rebuild all my own engines and grew up in my dads shop, so I have a decent knowledge base in turning wrenches. I didn't mess with the springs, they are supposed to be set from the factory for proper pre load. The ride is so horrible I am thinking of going to arnott air bags, but really don't want to waste all that money.
thanks in advance.

Most coilovers are going to be sprung significantly stiffer than the stock airmatic setup (or spring setup in coil sprung cars) - so the ride will be harsher/firmer. That said, I wouldn't expect world class performance and ride quality out of a $900 coilover set - corners have to be cut somewhere to get to that price.
Also, the firm / soft adjustment is a combination adjustment of rebound and compression damping that really won't do a heck of a lot (as they need to be adjusted independently to have any true control).

MBWorld Fanatic!
sound to me they were installed wrong, were the coilovers pre-loaded properly? if not you car will ride like A$$ no matter what height or stiffness you put them on, I have BC's on my car a year and a half so far and they are excellent

I did an Arnott conversion, and the first few days they seemed to be very firm. I'm not sure but maybe they needed to settle in a bit. Not nearly as harsh as at first, but I also may be used to them too.
As Pinned said above, a conversion of $900 or even $2,000 will never ride the way the stock ride was engineered.
