Front Brakes - where to buy parts?????
Hey guys, I have to get my front brakes done on a 2012 E63 Wagon. Front rotors/pads lasted just over 21,000 miles (34,000km).
My local dealer in Canada quoted me CAD$3,400 for 2 front rotors and CAD$600 for front pads. WTF!?!??!
I could almost buy a brand new front Brembo Big Brake kit for that!!!!!!
What's the best (cheapest) place to buy OEM parts for the job: rotors, pads and wear sensor?
Thanks in advance

MBWorld Fanatic!
Yes your best bet would be ebay or part websites.
Or you can just upgrade with very affordable Racing Brake kit.

Is your car less than 2 years old? In Canada? They do your brakes for free if less than 2 years old. Part of the wear warranty.

Please be certain that your front rotors are actually worn, and the dealer isn't one of those place that simply "does both" when the pads are gone. Being serious here. I'd want to know the measured thicknesses of the rotors.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
So Canada has a wear and tear warranty? I've never heard of such a thing! Why not the us?

In an effort to find the best parts that were as good as OEM or better, I ended up using RacingBrake ET500 pads front/rear. Their replacement rotors are slightly better in the long run than the stock two-piece rotors, since the ring itself can be replaced later. I doubt the difference in weight, even unsprung, makes a noticeable difference.
Their pricing is about 2/3 stock for pads, about 2/3 for pads/rotors combo.
Replacing the pads is quite simple; moreso than most cars. If replacing the rotors too, it is about normal for a typical modern car.

You wont find the best and cheapest in the same product.

Weight Saving (per rotor):
Total wt saving per car:
40 lbs for one piece front, or
26 lbs for two piece front rotors.
RB is the only brake company makes light weight two piece rotors retain the full functionality of rear emergency brakes - Some offer light weight rear but must delete the rear e-brake.
Other than these substantial weight saving, if you order both front and rear kits (rotor & pad), you will save another 10% from the sales price.
