Carbon PKG vs Night PKG
This has probably been debated over and over but again, this is driving me crazy. Feel free to join the insanity! Happy Friday!
Does anyone have pictures of the E63 AMG wagon or coupe with the carbon exterior package? I wanted to see in person what it looks like but no E63 vehicles in the Alberta dealerships have this option.
As discussed, I really want the CF package but in Canada you cannot get the black 10 spoke rims (only with the Night package). Also, that would mean aluminum trim would be on the front spoiler, the roof rails and window trim (I also don't want this). I can't make up my mind.
So, to make me happy with the CF package I would have to wrap the spoiler, roof rails and window trim in black and find some used black 10 spoke OEM rims. Seems like a lot of effort and money after purchasing a new car that is special ordered.
The CF seems to be very exclusive and I am hearing crazy prices for buying the CF pieces separate. 6k for the mirror caps? Any idea if you can get and how much for the engine cover? This insane pricing is what makes the $5500 CF pkg seem like something you should do. Maybe prices for separates are so crazy as they don't want you just putting CF on non-AMG cars?

Yep, couldn't find a picture that really showed it. BUT I did another search and Weber motors here in Alberta has a E63 AMG with CF pkg. It is Iridium silver and not Tenorite but should give me an idea. There is a Tenorite E63 with CF pkg in Calgary now as well but not going to drive 3 hours to see it.
Actually, I am crazy enough to do just that.

I have a car on order to be made middle of December and tried to add the exterior CF package - they denied the change. They said I would have to redo the order and it would punch it out 3-4 months (I put my order in back in Sept).
I did see that you can get CF mirror caps for $150 or so and spoiler for around the same, so that's what I'm going to do. Don't care as much about the front and rear splitter...

Don't know exact date - just that it's the second "stage" or "trimester" in December. Prob getting those terms wrong but it's between Dec 10-20. I guess ours will be fraternal twins!

My E63 S's original build date was the second decade of November but because of my designo stuff (leather and wood) it got pushed back about a month. I had to drop the forged wheels is that would've delayed the build for something like two more months.

Gotcha - but mine has forged wheels so hmmm...
I never feel like I'm getting straight info from dealer - not that I don't trust them, I think MB's systems are way behind others like Bmw when it comes to feedback and quick info. I guess it's all worth it !

Your dealer is super straighforward.
But I don' think that MB's communication level with its dealers about pending orders is very good. BMW's is much better. But of course whatever the level of communication the competitor M5 lacks the M157 engine, AWD and that great exhaust note/engine noise.

I just got pricing (CDN) on OEM CF parts for the E63 S AMG
CF mirror caps - $2349 each.
CF engine cover - $1723
CF side trim inserts - $1483 each
CF rear diffuser - $2720
CF front spoiler - $2371
If I get the Night Package then I could add CF here and there. I really want the engine cover and mirror caps. $2349 for one mirror cap seems really out there.

Wow. Within $250 per wheel of the cost of a set of HRE forged wheel (assuming you get one of the stock finishes). For that much bank I would go HRE, DPE or ADV1 and get fly forged wheela rather than those OEM cast wheels.

Once a year or so the information center tells me to add a quart of oil, so I have to open the hood.
Thats all.
I wonder if I should sell you my carbon fiber engine cover. The carbon has seen *very* little sunlight.

For the price of the CF engine cover, you could have bought a nice smoker, some hickory chunks, and several racks of ribs. That seems to bring the neighbors faster than an M157. Well, where I am, anyways.

I think it's cool enough to have a German dude's name signed on the engine

I opted for no CF pkg and instead got the night package. Don't regret it although I may wrap the spoiler (really liked that look on my c63). The CF pkg to me just wasn't worth it at all, and I prefer the gloss black look with the pano roof.
