2011 E63 few issues
Loving the car so far, have a few issues that I'm going to bring up with my guy when the transmission fluid is changed shortly. Wanted to see if anyone had any info here.
1. The car smells when it rains. It smells like magic marker, but only when it rains out. I have verified this at least 3 times already.
2. Maybe I'm imagining things, but it seems like the left active bolster doesn't work as well as the right bolster. Anyone else notice this?
3. When I got the car at 35800 miles, i drove it 1300 miles from Chicago to Florida. During that trip it started telling me to check the oil. I did and topped it off when I got home around 37000 miles. No issues since then until a few days ago it is randomly telling me to check the oil. Car has just about 40000 miles now. Is it normal that it would go through more oil in just less than 3000 miles?

Re: Oil. The 6.2 L AMG Direct Injection engine does tend to use a little oil. If it is using no more than a quart in 3000 miles then I think your fine. If more than a quart in 1500 miles then there is a problem. Also, as I have read on other forums it seems that many Direct Injection engines appear to be using oil every 2500 to 3000 miles. I know I have read this on the Mercedes, BMW and Hyundai forums.

I agree that there is no issue with using a quart in 3,000 miles. At least in Canada, BMW considers "normal" consumption up to 1 litre every 1,000 km on M motors, or for you US folks, about a quart every 600 miles.

I'm at 5k miles since I bought my 11 E63 M156 and the oil is rock solid, hasent moved at all.
I dont believe the M156's are direct injection. That just started happening recently in production cars.

Its possible when I topped it up after getting the car that it could have used another quart at that time. Aside from reading about it, has anyone needed to add oil to the car? I've added oil to cars before, but usually not in 3000 miles and those were cars using 5 quarts or so not 9.
