Storing a Amg wagon for six months, Procedure?

I'd be nervous leaving the battery active as the suspension seems to cycle frequently, but I know if did disconnect the battery it would be on the ground practically after six months. What's the best bet, just let the pump cycle and leave the battery on a charger (maintainer)? I only see one small battery in the right side rear compartment, maybe I'm not looking hard enough but there must be a bigger battery, would I want to hook the charger up to the small battery or the bigger battery which I'm sure must be in there somewhere? Maybe the best bet would be to jack up the back of the car a little bit so the pump would not cycle? I wish these cars did not have this air suspension it is a PITA.

CTEK or Battery Tender Trickle Charger, call around to your car battery stores local to you like Interstate, and they may have the CTEK's or Battery Tender brand models on hand.

I've had MB's since 1999 and I've always stored mine over the winter since I live in the Midwest and never had a 4matic. I would recommend also the trickle charger but I would start it at least once a month also if possible. These cars actually store very well and I've never had a problem other than a battery replacement once but the air suspension has never been an issue.

I guess I'll just hook up the battery Maintainer and I'll ask the dealer whether to hook it to the small battery or the big battery. I think I'm best off just leaving this wagon in Florida if I'm going to keep it, the roads are just so bad around Rhode Island.

storing your car

I have a strong suggestion. When the streets are dry, take the car out and drive it. I stored my Audi for a similar amount of time. The rotors rusted to the point that when I started driving the car again, the pads glazed unevenly on the rotors and after more than a month of the brakes pulsing, I bought new pads and rotors.

The shock absorbers did not have stainless steel shafts. They too rusted. Then when I started driving the car again, the rust broke the seals. All told, storing the car caused over $5K of damage.

Thanks for the info, gotta be so careful storing cars. I heard leave the windows down halfway too. If they are closed you can get mold in the car. My garage in Fla does not have A/C and it gets real hot in the summers. I've been using the same maintainers the past 4 years or so, I think I'll probably replace them after this season to be safe, they run for nearly 6 months straight, I'd hate to have one fail on me. I found the big battery in the Amg wagon, surprisingly it's under the hood on the passenger side near the firewall, have to take off a cover to access it. I believe that is where the Maintainer would be hooked up and I'd hope that also feeds the small battery in the back of the car, that battery looks almost like a motorcycle battery.

I used the auxiliary battery post that's towards the middle of the engine bay on the right... Has a sliding cover on it... Used this for red, and used an engine loop for ground (black)

Worked great

Thanks Peter, that sounds real simple for the hookup.

I just looked it up on amazon, looks great and the reviews are good. I've been using Schrambaurger chargers but like I said they are around 5 or 6 years old and work all summer long in a hot garage so I think I'll get a couple of Cteks. Still not sure if I'm going to store the benz all summer, I hate to be without the car, just very nervous about the roads around here in Rhode Island, the car drive great now that the wheels have been unbent and new Bridgestone Pole Positions S0-4's. I do really like those tires, quiet, hook up like nothing I've ever seen and a lot less money than a lot of other tires. They don't last as long as some tires, but for the traction they get they are worth it.
