Pano Roof -- Popping Fixed!

So after over a year of having my car, my pano roof finally started making the infamous "popping" sound whenever any significant longitudinal torsional force was placed through the chassis. After demonstrating the horrible sound to a service tech, they disassembled the roof and applied some sort of special adhesive to the components. After letting it dry overnight and reassembling everything, it seems to have fixed the problem. The downside was that it took the dealer 3 days to complete the work (and they gave me a GLA 250 as a loaner), and then within 3 hours of picking my car up, one of the tire pressure sensors gave up the ghost (so back to the dealer next week). Let's hope that their fix on the roof lasts at least another year.

Urgh same, I've got it and it makes the car feel/sound so cheap when it does this.

Not looking forward to fixing it (myself), looks like a PITA getting the headliner off.

I had the issue bad!

With 2 months left on the warranty, the dealer fixed it. They had to remove the headliner and re-torque all perimeter bolts. No new adhesives as far as I know.

Problem was rectified completely. Used to be automatic in any driveway. Never now.

I posted a whole thread on it about 3 months ago. Dont recall what it was called.

Cheers.

Just curious as to what your point is here.

Maybe I am missing something.

I have always found Peter to be very altruistic and generous with his time to help others.

Never hear a bad word from him.

Wish more guys rolled like him.

Just sayin'

And my apology if your post was meant with good intentions.

Stealer did the pano fix for me about six months ago, but it's back to popping. And I think it's getting worse. Argh.

I hesitate to try such an invasive fix again, but...

No apologies needed, more of an inside joke than anything. I love the pano option, think it's one of the best options hands down on these cars. Peter doesn't particularly care for them, and likes to mention that. He is entitled to his viewpoint. That's the 20,000 ft summary.

Well, I got the pop yesterday for the second time in 4 months. Only occurred when turning while parking. Might be time to not drive the car so aggressively sideways for a while...

I remember reading that thread. I have to take my car back for a faulty TPMS sensor, so I'm going to ask my SA in more detail what they did to fix the roof.

The funny thing was that when I brought it in they appeared to never have heard of this problem and they actually said they couldn't replicate the sound. I had to take a tech on a ride to demonstrate the sound (which was easy as I have a steep driveway at my office, which is only a 10 minute drive from the stealership).
