First things first

Hey all!

First post!

Proud new owner of a used black/black/CF 2012 E63 with 24k miles, P30 package and pretty much all other available packages/options except the Ceramic brakes. While I continue reading through the threads/posts and utilize the search functions on this forum, I figured I'd fire another arrow simultaneously via this post and ask for your expertise directly.

Are there any issues or things I should specifically look at that may be good to address immediately for this vehicle? While the engine on my car is running great (aside from the popular "stutter" and "lag" from idle to start), I wanted to see if there were any sub-frame issues or chassis strengthening that should be done now rather than later. Car also has panoramic room, and when I slowly go up a semi steep driveway and car is angled, I hear a light crunch sound or pop sound that seems to be coming from the center bar in between the 2 moon roofs.

Any insight as to anything that all new owners should fix, strengthen, look into with their new w212 e63 would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

p.s. - Second post will be pictures of the car!

It's already knocking on the door but my wife and I will be having a child soon. Will resist on opening that door for as long as I can!

Congrats on car!

I know everything you need to know on the infamous "pano-pop"

I just had my 2011 fixed for this about 3 months ago.

It is a VERY well known problem.

Assuming you are still under factory 4 warranty, you just need to take it to the dealer and they will need a day or 2 to fix it.

The proper fix is to remove the headliner and retorque ALL of the perimiter bolts for the pano roof. Both pieces.

They did this for me and it has not made a sound since! They even fixed a couple of other rattles that were in the headliner light assemblies.

If they do not remove the headliner, they are not fixing the problem. My dealer, MB of Stevens Creek, knows this problem so well that they even have a test driveway they use about a 1/4 mile away!

Tell your dealer what I wrote here and demand they fix it. You will be happy afterward.

Good Luck.

Thank you so much for the great info! I'll call either Autobahn or MB SF tomorrow and schedule an appointment and get this taken care of ASAP.

Congrats. I got the same year/car in Diamond White. Known problem with the E class are as listed:

1: Interior trim. Unless it's a CF trim, Mercedes is replacing them FOC due to fading.

2: Headlights are being replaced FOC due to the lens has a burned V mark due to the bulbs burn too hot.

Good luck.

Since you are in the BA, you could make the drive to SJ to MB of Stevens Creek. If you PM me, I can refer you to a very good SA there. And this dealer REALLY knows this pano issue well.

Just a thought.

Would you mind PMing me your SA name? Wouldn't mind making the extra drive down to Stevens Creek to make sure this gets fixed correctly the first time.

Spot on David!

I already got the headlights replaced. And the new trim should be coming in anytime now. 6 month back order. Looking forward to that!

If you don't mind, could you please also PM me your SA? I go to MB Stevens Creek for service, my next service date is coming up, I might as well have them look at my roof too when I drop it off. Thanks!

Awesome V. Remember, the interior trim comes in a set throughout the interior. Don't let the dealer replace just one piece or not the entire set or the color will look shining on the new piece and dull on the others that was not replace. Best of luck man.

Thanks for the tip. However, I am certain already that they are indeed replacing all of the wood trim. Dash, front doors, and rear doors.

All have some degree of fading.
