A couple questions about which E63 to buy for Modding

Hi guys,

I have had two previous E55's, and then went to a 2013 Audi S6. My audi was hit by a tree in my driveway and was totaled. I had it tuned, and exhaust, and I was running 11:49 with it before it was totaled. I loved everything about the car, but the mods available were fairly limited, and Audi service for a modified car was horrible.

So, at this point I either upgrade to an RS7 because with just a tune, the performance is insane, or I go into a twin turbo E63.

So, my question is, which E63 should I buy, knowing that I will tune it, and possibly do other mods?

I thought that I saw on the Renntech site that they can get the same hp out of the S model as a regular E63?

I would prefer to buy the best car I can, for the least amount of money, so if I can buy a 2012 instead of a 2014, save $20k and have the same performance, thats what I would do.

Just not sure at all, which car and year to buy. The biggest issue for me, is, if I don't buy an 14 car with AWD, then I will just smoke the tires, I assume.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2012 is good and you will save some money that you can put toward modding

I agree that a 2012 without PP would be your best bet....

any E63 with the biturbo engine is best for modding! i love my awd, as i need it for winter driving, but having it tuned and having usable power is amazing!! Im sure you can find a good deal on 14 now!

For pure performance you have to go RS7. They're insane now and will be even better when stage 2 mods/tunes become available. I doubt any 63 will catch up when that happens.

For 63s, don't be afraid of a 2012 and rwd . With the right tires and technique you'll launch just as well or better than awd.

I bought my 2012 E63 so I can tune it to its fullest potential as you are contemplating about. I went from Renntech ECU and 200 cell cats to Alpha 9 turbo upgrades. The difference as one would expect is day and night.

The P30 Performance Package includes Red Brakes ( not sure if it has better stopping power than the standard silver brakes, but I do love the red ). Adaptive AMG sport suspension. AMG performance steering wheel. Delimitation of top speed to 186mph.

This is a $7,300 package I would not go without. Also something you got to have is the limited slip which is a $2,030 option.

If you want the best on a preface E63. Get the P30 and limited slip and tune it with a full turbo upgrade. You will love yourself for doing it. Good luck.

A couple questions about which E63 to buy for Modding

I would definitely get a 2014 or newer as they have all-wheel-drive. That's a major acceleration advantage in all situations as opposed to putting so much power on the rear wheels only (the 2012 and 2013 models are RWD).

Whatever you do, get one from 2012 or newer which has the M157 engine. This biturbo engine is hugely and easily tunable. The predecessor naturally aspirated motor is not.

As far as whether to get one with the performance package/S model vs the base model I would always go with the PP\S model over base due to resale. Also the S model has limited slip differential while the base one does not. with so much power and torque you would want that especially if you're going to tune it

Limited slip is an easy mod and aftermarket units have been better than factory in previous gens so that shouldn't be a factor.
