Ordering a Wagon before Year End
I'm going to order a new wagon within the next few weeks. Can anyone recommend a dealer who can 1) offer a good deal and 2) maybe even change an existing build slot so I can get my car sooner rather than later?
I'd prefer a California dealer, but am willing to travel or ship for a good deal.
Is 7% off of a car with a $122K MSRP too optimistic?
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

I sure hope you're wrong! My desired car does not exist anywhere else.

Unfortunately, you were right... and knew better than 3 dealers in California who all (in series, not parallel) accepted my deposit stating that they "definitely, absolutely, 100% certain" had an allocation for an E63 Wagon. The best part is that each of them claimed that all other dealers were crooks and were lying to me about having an allocation, but he had special access to get me the car.
Turns out that all of them were wrong. I even reached out to the SoCal regional rep who didn't reply to me directly, but reached out to the GM of one of the dealers I was working with.
So, I'm now trying to decide what to do. I had a pretty unique build that doesn't exist anywhere else, and I'm not sure I want to pay full price for a new wagon that doesn't exactly match what I'm looking for.
I also don't know if I want to wait until Nov 2016 for the next wagon nor do I want to be a guinea pig with one of the first cars built off the line...
Ugh... First World Problems...

Hope you find what you are looking for. Back in late October there were several E63 wagons available nationally (some had been on lots for a month or two). Like Tony said you should be able to go thru them with a salesperson. My dealer traded with another for the one I wanted and I got ~7% off (told I paid invoice) plus $3500 fleet discount. Another dealer I spoke with was selling a similar priced car for about the same.
I don't recall any that had interiors other than black (which I sort of wanted). Most had driver assist package (which I had to have). I think there was 1 with B&O and/or carbon brakes that was over $120k.

Yeah, I have my dealer looking through my compromised choices now.
My original build was:
- Lunar blue
- 10 spoke titanium wheels
- black leather w/ silver stitching
- designo piano black lacquer
- Carbon ceramic brakes
- B&O sound
- laminated glass
- Distronic
- SurroundView cameras
Ideally I don't want to pay for carbon fiber trim (interior or exterior)
Willing to give up the exterior color, piano black lacquer and B&O as my first compromises, but still not easy to find.

Love your choices. Good luck!
* Lunar blue looks beautiful in pics!
* Sure wish I had laminated glass in my E.
* Upgraded audio is an especially nice aural treat.
What about waiting around for the "new" W213 AMG E wagon? I have zero idea when it'll launch, but...

I ran into the same situation and unfortunately they no longer accepted builds for the S212 since the next generation E-class is on the horizon. I wanted almost the exact same specs as you and the closest ones I found were a used 2016 Indigo Blue with the laminated glass and park assist up in Marin and Lunar Blue in Connecticut (MB of Greenwich) that was fairly bare bones. I understand they can change the interior trim, but lack of the B&O system was a disappointment. Good luck on your hunt!

I'd take this with a grain of salt. Dealers are full of BS. I think the new E sedan is debuting at the Detriot show in Jan, and the wagon in Geneva in March. I'm not sure if the AMG variants will be introduced at these venues. The AMG do lag behind the base models in terms of release. Historically it took 2 years for the W211 E55 wagon to hit the US compared to the sedan and 2 years for the W212 E63 wagon. Mercedes has been faster about introducing AMG cars than in the past, but I doubt there will be any W213 AMG wagons in the USA until at least Q2 2017.

I was told not to expect the next generation E63 until late 2017 and that it will likely have a version of the 4L V8 TT from the current C63/GT-S. These motors in the AMG 63's are getting smaller with each generation!

I saw all the technology available now. Traffic on my commute must not be that bad, because I really don't understand the attraction towards the quasi-self driving features. I bought my AMG because I like driving...

exactly, growing up with old Italian & German cars I never got in them because of the latest gadget or the "interior", I drive my AMG mostly without listening to any music windows down if weather is nice. I enjoy the ride and craftsmanship. Im young however I think old school like my dad and grandparents.

That's funny! Actually, I think the napping might be easier in a google car instead of a car that can snap your head back like an AMG or Tesla...
