don't be jealous, your E55 is more fun than the biturbo engine. slower, worse, less fuel efficient, and less practical... but more fun, and better sounding, and looking.
so far the E55 is the one car that'd actually make me consider giving up my LS 400 to have. probably not because it was a total nightmare to own much of the time and the LS has been more reliable over 17 years than the brand new E63 S has been in less than 1, and couldn't even come close to the E55's unreliability lol...
anyone on this forum reading this would probably think it's crazy that a lead-footed 21 would prefer an old lexus farty grandpa car to an E63 but it's honestly so much better like 98% of the time, that 2% is a VERY convincing 2% however lol but if i could only have one car to depend on it'd be the LS no question.
oh yeah.....

I had a 95 LS400 for many years and it was like a Rolex on four wheels. Great car!

Lexus missed the boat on that one... Creating an amg analogue that was reliable as we have come to expect Lexus to be
The Lexus gsf is a joke for its price and should have more power and awd

Lexus has a tough road ahead as they try to make less boring cars. Until the last few years - with a couple exceptions - they've basically made expensive Toyotas. Very reliable, fuel efficient, comfortable cars, with bland to moderate styling. Most have provided little feedback to the driver in terms of steering feel, engine sound, etc. Engine power is certainly weak compared to other vehicles in their classes.
Great cars, just not exciting. They're definitely trying to change that with their new grille design - whether you like it or not, it's definitely aggressive. But their attempts at performance vehicles have missed the mark. The ISF and RCF were meant to be BMW M3 contenders but were heavy and lacked handling, and as Peter said, the GSF isn't coming anywhere close to its E63/RS7/M5/CTS-V competitors.
I hope they get it right soon, I'd love to own an E63 with Lexus reliability & longevity.

in recent years yes, lexus has been falling behind the competition. the 2016 LS is basically the 2007 model with a new grill. back in 98 though the LS was quite literally better in just about every measurable way than the s class, a8, 740, xj, etc... it is boring looking i admit, especially stock (mine has the LS 430 wheels and h&r springs but still). nevertheless it'll still do 0-60 in like 6.1 which i think is pretty impressive, and i think the engine sounds GREAT!
it's like 300hp/300tq from not even a 4 liter, while still being incredibly durable. it still runs like new. in terms of specific output, there's more power per liter in that vvt-i 1uz from 1997 than the current 2015 charger srt 392. it also (still) gets 30+ mpg highway up to like 70 mph, and literally everything works and has never not worked.
it's not a car you get in right away and go WOW this is awesome, but after owning it for years, and everything keeps working flawlessly, you just start to realize that it's better than everything else. i've sat in a brand new W222 and couldn't get as comfortable as i could in my LS. i could keep going lol...

Take the gsf, twin turbo charge it, add a nice awd 7 or 8 speed zf trans, LSD, and wider more aggressive fenders ... Make it around $95k
