Running power to trunk for amp?

I know at least a few of you have added some boom to your trunks... I'm doing the same but really not so much boom... just some thump (250 watt Bazooka 8" - I run the same in my '65 GS and have a 10" marine on my boat... they're not overly powerful but they do fill in really nicely and they're so easy to deal with).

If you've run a line to the back for an amp, how did you run it? Is it fine to tap into the battery in the trunk for a 250 watt amp and then just use the line level inputs from the speakers in the rear deck?

This would be a pretty simple install without having to run any lines anywhere other than in the trunk.

Do you not have the accessory battery in the trunk? Its on the back right on my CLS. I just tapped into the feed line for the main 12v circuit with 4 gauge wire, and pulled inputs and turn on from main factory amp harness on the left side of the trunk. Very clean and easy

Yep. That exact same set up. You wouldn't happen to have a picture or two would you?

I was thinking that it would be pretty straight forward.

Awesome. This is turning out how I kind of thought/hoped it would.

Battery in trunk (all of my AMG's have had that). Lines to tap into. Not having to run lines up front?

I'm kind of thinking everyone should do this.

This purchase was actually the result of a friend coming over last Saturday during the day in her CLA45 just to stop in and see my wife and going, "Don't you just wish you had a little more 'punch' in your stereo?" So we both bought the same tubes right then because I said, "It shouldn't be too tough to install..."

Any help is much appreciated my friend. I'll be sure to detail the process too for a sticky with and tips you have looped in.

How strange....My W211 E55 had the main battery in the trunk. My W212 E63 has the main battery in the front, but no secondary battery in the trunk like the picture above...

Does your car have the M156 engine? Car with that engine only has the main battery in the front.

These are SUPER helpful. Any recollection of which lines are which as far as the high level lines to tap into for the speakers/amp?

Yeah mine has the M156.

FWIW i have a small sub connected to the fusebox in the rear. It's been there for around 6 months or so.

I would like to run a proper cable from the front though and do a long term solution. Just don't have the time at the minute.
