No Dashboard option for "Engine Oil Level Measuring"?????
I have a 2015 E63S and was searching through the dash menu's to see if you can check the oil level electronically but doesnt appear the W212 had that option...????
my 2003 C32 (W203) had 2 options to electronically check the oil through the dash that was helpful. one was through the "Dyno Mode" option which displayed the specific quarts of oil, the other was to have the dash menu on the odometer and then turn the key to position 2 to scroll through the menu's to find the "Check oil Level" menu where it only indicated if you needed to add oil and not a specific value like the dyno mode offered....
am interested in this because i just got a message on the dash stating "add 1 quart of oil" with 15k miles on my 2015 and it had oil service done in Oct 2016 with 13k miles when i bought it CPO.
thx

These cars now have dipsticks so no dash menu option. I'm fine with that considering both my 55s had the oil level sensor go out...and they're not cheap!

I have a 2015 E63S probably just like yours and I, too, was expecting there to be some way to check the oil level via the dash or COMAND. But I couldn't find it either and then just gave up. There is a dipstick, but man it's way in the back under the hood.

Wow, my 2003 911 had this feature. sad.
Then again, my cayenne has this feature and no actual dipstick, so if you ever are low on oil you have to drive for X amount of time until you know exactly how much you have.
so imagine a stuation when you lost a lot of oil and were down like 5 quarts. If you add "some" oil you'd have no clue what to do next. I literally had this problem and it was super scary because I didn't know if I added too much or too little .
I think in the end I'd want both but if I could only have one...oddly I'd choose physical?

Agree. Can't understand complaints about a dipstick. They're becoming rare. I'd take it over on-board computer any day... see it with my own eyes and also can help diagnose issues (eg coolant mix)

its fine. i'll add a quart and then pull the dip stick..... i have to laugh because i did much of my own work on my c32/m112 motor since it was a much less complex simple motor relatively speaking. but i never had to manually pull a dipstick to check the oil with that said i would never attempt to work on the e63/m157 motor its way to complex but i will find out where the dip stick sits and do a pull and wipe to see what the level is...
