I just bought the complete brake package from ACG. Brake Rotors slotted/drilled, pads, sensors, fluid, and lines. Call them up and see what they can do, let them know your a forum member, James is the one Ive spoked with and he is really cool.

Try here also, I think I was around $1700 for all four rotors and I went with EBC redstuffs for a total around $2k.

I used girodisc replacements on my cls63, and racing brake rotors on my CL65. If I had to do it again, I 'd do the full RB kit on my CLS63. Best value and best quality.

I wonder if there's a significant change in stopping power going from AMG drilled rotors to the RB slotted rotors.

In a performance vehicle, I don't think that is too surprising. All depends on your driving habits and how the rotors were worn in. Many Audi guys, including me on my last S car, woefully replace brakes/rotors around 20k.

It may also be the fact that MB recommends replacing rotors and pads simultaneously. I'm not sure if MB does but Audi definitely recommends this.

A heavy car, with performance pads is going to eat brakes. 36K Miles is realy long life on these cars. 30-35 km is long life.

Im still using my rotors from when it was new , more than 5 years now and more than 200k km.

changed the pads 5 times till now ( average 40k km )

so the rotors can last long, if you don't wait till the pads are completely worn and your rotors gets screwed.

I think it depends on how different people drives the car. But I wouldn't believe them. I had my 2014 CLS63s in dealership in Hartford, CT for service two years ago and they told me I needed to change my pads and rotors, when the car only got 17K miles on it...... I'm still using the same rotors and they work just fine (50k miles now). So I think you should find a guy you can trust, not service advisors.

You need to be real careful here. If you brake hard on thin rotors they could shatter. It's all about whether your inline with factory width. So asks what spec is on your rotors.

Ali E55, you are out of your mind driving on rotors with 100k.

All rotors have a minimum thickness spec. If you're below the minimum then they need replaced. If above, you can just have them turned. I've gone over 100k on my rear PADS & ROTORS on my g35x. Miles don't matter it's how you brake & how much you brake that matters.

Yeah for a W211 chassis, W212 & W218 AMG cars are entirely different and pricing is typically over $800 per front rotor.

If you read the whole thread you'd see you can get rears for that price & fronts for under $750

I can see that and I misunderstood you. I was speaking more on a retail note for the average consumer. E55 brakes on the contrary are dirt cheap.

Thank you "KLR CLS". Candid opinion and long term testimonial (below) is what members like to hear and learn.

Racing Brake Rotors after 113,556miles
https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...-556miles.html

When you replace to pad friendly RB rotors be sure to go with our best value XT910 compound (upgrade to more heat resistant than original ET500). It's proven to be better than most the familiar brands you used to know. Give it a try and you would be as happy as this SL550 customer.

Racing Brake makes me happy

A discussion in GTR forum where people drove very similarly as Mercedes ( heavy car @sports mode.), and our explanation why we upgrade our compound from ET500 to XT910.

2015 cls 63 amg s
Hello, I just purchased a 2012 CLS 63 however I need to get new brake pads for the front and back in order to pass New York inspection. Ive been looking on rockauto.com for pads as they seem to have great prices but im really having trouble choosing the right pads for me. I also don’t know whether or not I should go with ceramic or a semi metallic pads because of the colder climate that I live in and how that would affect stop performance. With this car I drive it pretty hard, accelerating and stopping hard quite often. I was going to buy Centric pq pro semi metalic pads however I didn’t hear such good things from reviews on other forums. Rockauto also has Powerstop z26 carbon fiber ceramic performance pads as well, which seem quite good as they are listed as a step above the centric pq pro pads that they list as premium pads. However, rockauto only has the z26 pads for the front and not the rear, not sure if its a good idea to go with Powerstop z16 ceramic pads in the rear with z26’s in the front. Does anyone have a suggestion for what pads might be reasonable for my purposes. I’m not looking to buy oem pads as they are ridiculously expensive. Looking to spend $150 more or less in total for new pads all around.

FCPEuro.com has good replacement pads, not sure on price but you should know going into this that these cars still cost north of $100k new and parts are commensurately expensive. It might not be the car for you if you balk at $150 for pads.
